POOVANNAN, PONNUTHAYI,PAASIYUR -835

    ANSWER IS WITH THE UNITED NATIONS  This is a story about the fisherman Poovannan who was staying with his aged Grandmother Ponnuthayi at the small fishing hamlet of Paasiyur in rural Pandiyanadu.  This coastal village is just 80 KMS from my own place Agasthiarpatty . Ponnuthayi had a serious wound on her leg which refused to heal inspite of all the efforts of Poovannan. The wound seemed to be gathering puss and spreading with each passing day . Total limb amputation if left untreated soon was an unpleasant possibility. This was when he consented to listen to his best friend Kadir and approach Mayan , the self styled local village Quack . The Quack Mayan was quick to offer a solution . Washing the wound with a bucket of Seawater for a fortnight three times a day would surely heal the wound completely. It seems just yesterday that I was a young, just married young man embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then with  all my hopes and dreams. But, here it is... the *back nine* of my life and it catches me by a huge surprise...How did I ever get here so fast? Where did all the years  and where did my youth go?                   PLEASANT MEMORIES  Lot of pleasant memories in the post  . A brick Layers Son with a Mother who supplements the monthly income as a Tailor clearing the Tough  UPSC Exam is awesome .  That he cleared it from a place called Vickramasingapuram which has been my home for the last 50 years plus the mention of Thiruvalluvar College and Papanasam Labour Welfare School is even more special . Anoobala my daughter  too is a product from both these institutions.  Although I am not in tune with most of the schemes of the ruling dispensation, NAAM MUDALVAR seems to be helpful to many even from the rural background . Thumbs up for the effort . Congrats Bharathi .

T 20 World Champs - Gift To the Nation- 832

                  T 20 WORLD CUP WINNER          PROUD MOMENT FOR THE NATION  India's journey in the Current ICC WORLD CUP  T 20  Champion has been nothing short of Phenomenal . To end up losing only one Match from the League Stage till the Final spoke volumes of their intent . Batting was excellent , someone or the other took up the Gauntlet when it mattered the most . Sanju Samson joining the team after being picked up only during  the business end of the Championship made a huge difference  which ended up in he being chosen as the Player of the Tournament and the chief architect of our fortunes . Contributions by Ishan Kishan , Hardik Pandya , Shivam Dubey , Tilak Verma and to a smaller but useful contributions by SKY , Axar Patel and Abhishek Sharma in the final all went on to make the Final almost a one sided contest. DAY LIGHT SAVING AND FOG - 831

            DAYLIGHT SAVING AND FOG  IT IS 2 PM ON SATURDAY THE 7TH OF MARCH 2026 AT AJAX IN CANADA . THE SAME TIME TOMORROW IT WILL BE 3 PM . AS A DAY LIGHT  SAVING MEASURE CLOCKS WILL BE PUT AHEAD BY AN HOUR . IT IS A PRACTICE IN THESE PARTS TO DO SO AT 2 AM ON THE SECOND SUNDAY EARLY MORNING IN MARCH EVERY YEAR . IT SUGGESTS AN END TO WINTER AND THE START OF THE SUMMER . ( The opposite is on the First Sunday at 2 AM each November )             Visibility Restricted to 20 Mts or so  WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO MARKHAM AT 2 IN THE AFTERNOON. THOUGH THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS VERY MUCH PLUS 14 DEGREES , AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE VIDEO THE MIST OR FOG IS SO HEAVY THAT VISIBILITY ON THE ROAD AHEAD IS VERY POOR . SURPRISING INDEED !!!!

Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple - 830

     KARYA SIDDHI HANUMAR TEMPLE  As has become an almost a regular feature of our stay here Canada .  our Temple visit last Saturday was to the KARYA SIDDHI HANUMAR TEMPLE at Erin in Canada . This is some 120 KMS from our place of stay at Ajax . There was also that important T20 ICC WORLD CUP MATCH between Sri Lanka and Pakistan . We left home at 10.30 am for Erin . Pakistan had scored a very good 217 for 8 by then . Although I am a great fan of Cricket I must confess that I was looking forward to  Sri Lanka to at least first score the  147 Runs if not win the game as  this would have been curtains for  Pakistan' s place in their pursuit of  ICC T20 - 2026 WORLD CUP . The cricket was followed on the mobile . The good news was that though Pakistan had won the match by a small margin , they were out of the WORLD CUP . MY GRANDSON ADHVAY STUDIES AT ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL SCHOOL AT AJAX.  THIS BEING A SCHOOL WHICH INCLUDE STUDENTS FROM BOTH THE REGULAR AND GIFTED STREAMS , THEY ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN GROUP ACTIVITIES . ADHVAY S PARENTS WHICH IN TURN INCLUDED US , HIS GRANDPARENTS WERE INVITED FOR THEIR SCHOOL MORNING ASSEMBLY WHERE HE WAS AWARDED A  CERTIFICATE FOR "GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP AND SUSTAINABILITY "  THIS WAS PRECEDED BY A SMALL SKIT ENACTED BY THE STUDENTS  WHICH HIGHLIGHTED EFFECTIVE WAYS TO DISPOSE OFF THE ONE TIME USE PLASTIC BOTTLES AND ITS  LIKES WHICH ARE HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT ALL AROUND US .             A PROUD MOMENT INDEED
