Manjolai Post Office -824

   MANJOLAI POST OFFICE CLOSING DOWN  " MANJOLAI KILITHANO " famous song from the movie KIZHAKAY POGUM RAYIL might have vanished from the memory from almost all barring a very few  cinegoers of  the 70s or 80 s . The place MANJOLAI which finds mention in this song is a Scenic and Picturesque place located in the Western Ghats or Pothigai Malai close to Ambai and Kallidai in Tirunelveli District of Tamilnadu . The British were the first to establish Tea Plantations here way back in 1919 which was subsequently leased out to Bombay Burmah Trading Company for 99 Years . Generations have toiled in these lands and been a part of this land in more ways than one . Being deep inside the mountains , INDIA POST was the only mode of Communication for the people of these parts . Mobile phones came much later . For better or worse these plantations are now closed and have  made way for the Wildlife Sanctuary about which I shall detail later. THIS  POST OFFICE IS NOW...

Minus 36 at Regina 12 Y Back = 823

        MINUS 36 D at REGINA 12 Yrs BACK  My posts regarding the severe winters in Canada must surely start to be a bore for many .  Not so for me from the Sub Continent for whom even 20 Degrees on the plus side is severe winter .  As pointed out by my friend RTM , being a regular visitor to these parts for close to 12 years now , we have come to learn to live with it and be a part of this annual feature .  The snow storm at Regina during MY VERY FIRST VISIT  in 2013-2014 to Canada brings back memories of the same . Outside , the feels  like Temperature during the Snow Storm was Minus 36 degrees C on 14 th Feb 2014 .  This of course was a lot better than the day my Grandson Arya was born Dec 20 of 2013 when the Outside Feels like  Temperature was even worse at a Freezingly Cold Minus 57 degrees C .  SOME EXPERIENCE THAT !!!!

Being a perfect ZOMBIE - 822

                                 ZOMBIE  JUST THE OTHER DAY I WAS INTO A GAME OF SCRABBLE WITH MY GRANDSON . HE HAD THE LETTERS Z , B, E , B , M  , L  AND I  WITH HIM AS HIS SEVEN LETTERS . THOSE WHO HAVE PLAYED A  GAME OF SCRABBLE , I AM SURE ARE AWARE AS TO HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO MAKE USE OF THE LETTER    " Z " . HOWEVER GOOD ONES VOCABULARY MAY BE ,  MAKING USE OF Z WITH THE OTHER LETTERS IN HAND ON  THE BOARD IS ALWAYS A BIG  PROBLEM . THIS IS MORE SO AS  THERE ARE NOT TOO MANY WORDS WHICH  MAKE USE OF THE LETTER Z . MAKING USE OF THE FREE LETTER " O " ON THE BOARD , MY GRANDSON HAD FORMED THE WORD    --        ZOMBIE . IT IS ONLY FAIR TO ADMIT THAT I WAS RATHER SURPRISED AT MY GRANDSON FORMING THIS WORD  AND WAS NOT EVEN SURE IF THE WORD WAS THERE I N THE OXFORD ENGLISH  LANGUAGE DICTIONARY . A QUICK...

BEING IN THE COLDEST PLACE ON THE PLANET -821

                         COLDEST PLACE ON THE PLANET TWO important events were right  around the corner,  like the 15 th Wedding Anniversary of My Son and Daughter in Law plus the 5 th Birthday of our Granddaughter Akshu .  We had so planned our visit to THE GREAT WOLF LODGE , including loading all the needed items inside the car while both our Grandkids were still  away at School . They had absolutely no idea that they were headed to a place which  had been on their minds for quite a while now  . They were given to understand that we were all  visiting a family relative's house  for a Dinner at a place slightly distant from us . Their surprise on reaching the place was one big ,  " WOW , WHAT A GRAND SURPRISE "  With reservations made some 3 Months back itself ,  the visit to the GREAT WOLF LODGE at Niagara was waiting for us despite the severe snow storm expected lat...
