2019 TSUNAMO WAVE - SARANGI EFFECT - 68

This 2019 elections has been a mind opener in more ways than one . The Modi Wave as the 2014 election was Christened was bettered in 2019 and a new word was added to the English Lexicon namely TSUNAMO. The Mahagatbandhan and the Ensemble of the so called like minded parties of the Congress could do little to stop the Modi TSUNAMO Which finally ended up with a figure of 350 Seats for the NDA alliance . This is where people like Pratap Chandra Sarangi the newly elected MP come to mind . That this man with very limited means , leading a frugal life in a thatched bamboo house and using a Cycle to commute to various places to meet the people while campaigning and fighting against two of the richest people in the state is awe inspiring . That he went on to win the election handsomely is almost like a fairytale finish in the children s books . I have been to Balasore and let me assure you that it is no different from our own mid sized cities like Tirunelveli or Nagercoil . HE HAS BE

2019 ELECTIONS - A DIFFERENT VIEW - 67

The 2019 Elections has been almost unique as far as I am concerned . Unique because being in Tamilnadu , it had a mix of The L S and Assembly By Election to decide the Fate of who is to rule us both at the Center and at the State level . I have been a staunch supporter of the BJP and the final election result  of 303 seats individually for the BJP and 350 seats for the NDA combine was most welcome . What was discordant was the almost blank figure of the BJP and the none too smart performance of AIADMK in the assembly elections which was to decide its fate in running the Govt in Future in Taminadu. It however managed to scrape through and retain power till the next Assembly Elections . The DMK or more aptly the PIRATES OF THE GULF OF MANNAR had a 2 point agenda for the Elections 1 ) Dislodge Modi from the seat of power in Delhi using whatever means possible , and 2 ) Install MKS in the CM s chair on the 24 th of May or latest by the birthday of MK which was to follow later .

IPL MATCHES , BANE OR BOON FOR THE YOUTH 66

I am just shy by a year or so of  touching the 70 year mark and am  endowed with a fairly good health with just a few age related niggles , all with God's blessing , I lead an active life with a penchant for travel and exploring new places and experiences . I am an avid follower of the IPL MATCHES , and during the course of the discussion about the nail biting final of the 2019 Final on one of the WhatsApp groups , a relatively junior member (  by age ) was at pains to point out that the whole IPL was a waste of time for the youth who were wasting their time , money and other resources on a totally  non productive passtime . He further went on to add that it was a fit passtime for people like me who were well past their prime after having completed all responsibilities towards their  children . What was left was for the curtain of life to come down one last time . Now , this somehow sounds as if it is a crime to be bracketed in the AGED group . I firmly believe the that the y

ONE MORE GAFFE BY " THE HINDU ^15 MAY -65

Image
On page 2 of todays " THE HINDU " dated 15 / 05 / 19 has a news item with the caption in bold letters YOUTH MURDERS WIFE The story outlines a man of 42 years and describes him as a YOUTH who had murdered his wife and 17 year old Daughter who with the approval of the mother had an affair with an Auto Rikshaw driver which was opposed by the father . " THE HINDU " must surely be aware that a YOUTH is by UN Norms any person in the age group of 15 to 24 years . " THE HINDU " must surely read what it publishes .

BY FAR THE COSTLIEST MISTAKE IN 2019 IPL - 64

The Thrill by the Second  , IPL 2019 FINAL has got over . The summit clash between the two most favoured teams of this years competition lived upto its hype with the result having rested on the balance till the very last ball of the match . One team had to end up on the loosing side and unfortunately it had to be CSK which was my favorite . Not only me , my grandchildren have also become a fan of CSK as they have also been watching the IPL matches for the previous 2 years during my stay in Canada and are a firm supporters of the yellow brigade now  . The dropped catch by Raina , otherwise an excellent fielder , the extra run due to the misfield by Thakur , controversial Dhoni Runout anf the runout of Watson while attempting a second run which incidentally was never there off the 4 th ball of the final over , all accounted in no small measure to the final outcome of the match  so much so that that the Single Run has cost the CSK a whopping sum of Rs 7.5 CRORES , which is the diffe

MADURA COATS COLONY VK PURAM /BEST PLACE -62

I have had the good fortune of being brought up and later lived in a gated community all my life . My early remembrances of having lived in the railway colony at varoius places by virtue of my father having been a senior officer at Kharagpur , Garden Reach Kolkata , Chakradharpur and Bhilai bring back nostalgic memories of the many  Diwali , Durga Pooja and other festivals . Being a small and almost a closed community , every family was on very intimate terms with others and lived almost like an extended family . Having done my college in Mumbai and after being in service there in a Textile Mill there , the transition to the Madura Coats Colony at VK Puram was not something which was easy . The temptation to call it quits and board the next train back to Mumbai was always a lingering thought . I got over it slowly and today i can proudly say that it was the  BEST , WRONG decision i had ever made in my life . I do not want to dwell on the quality of life at the workplace , the f

PLASTIC BAN - IMMIDIATE BENIFITS SEEN - 61

Ambasamudram is roughly 1500 kms away from Vishakapatnam which is the closest point as of now of the super cyclone FANI which by all forecasts is expected to touch the 250 kmph wind speed  . As a layman , i am not sure if the cyclone has got anything to do with the very heavy wind blowing right from this morning at my own Ambasamudram . It has brought some relief from the extremely hot weather of the last one month or so . The fallen dry leaves have made a mess of the driveway upto the main gate of my house  .  This is not a big issue as With a little effort these can be cleaned and no traces of the same will be seen once this is done . What is conspicuous by its absence are the plastic bags of various sizes and colours which created a huge mess even during the normal days before the plastic ban was introduced . The difference is stark and is a welcome sight . I shudder to imagine the fallout now if there was no Plastic Ban . The Governaments both at the State and Center need
