Inbuilt FUSE in the plug - 338(185)

Image
POWER OVERLOAD FUSE IN THE PLUG                                   ITSELF                                     Last November when my SIL Kamesh came visiting to India , he had brought Two Cascade 13 " Blackstone Tower Fans , one  for the use of his father at Tirunelveli and the other for the use of Mami that is my better half at Agasthiarpatty.  These are small Fans that do not need a big empty space for operation . Mami usually spends the better part of each morning in the Swami Room . It is a small sized room and with all the Deities around there is    hardly any space for the old  USHA pedestal fan . Even otherwise that could be  of only little succour in the confined space available . Kamesh had bought the Cascade  Fan from Costco , Canada for use by Mami to tide over the heat during the hot summer months . We ourselves had arrived from Canada in late November 2019 . After a few days I tried connecting the fan in the Swamy Room . Call it ignorance or downright stupidity

JUGAAD , YERPAADU , KAIZEN - 337

Image
JUGAAD-YERPAADU-KAIZEN The pictures below I am sure will leave many wondering as to why we as Indians have only so few Nobel Prize winners . The inventiveness of Indians needs to be truely admired .  किसी भी तरह जुगाड़ कर लेंगे , ये कौन सी बड़ी बात है  எப்பிடியாவுது , சமாளிச்சு ஏற்பாடு பண்ணிடலாம்  We will make do with the resources available in our hands . In Hindi it is JUGAAD , in Tamil it is Samalikkiradu . In English , and in Management Parlance it comes close to KAIZEN . The Key to Using a Tap  Safety to Cycle and Slippers  Try Robbing my Moped  Candle Light Omelet  Tree Top Water Tank  Rain Water Harvesting inside Home  Two Tier Fan  Double Lock Safety on a Car  Each of these path breaking inventions deserves a NOBEL PRIZE .

SUBBIAH AND THE POLICEMAN 336

Image
VK PURAM TO KOVILKULAM VIA AMBAI Subbiah was very tired and profusely prespiring as he rolled his cycle near his house . His wife Velammal was quick to notice the bulging package on the cycle's carrier . She enquired as to what was inside the parcel .Subbiah hesitantly informed her that he had just bought the groceries for their daughter from the Rs 2000 that he had just recieved as the Givt Covid assistance . Velammal was immediately upset . She wanted to know if  both of them did not have a stomach to fill and other very long pending items like the Asthma Inhaler and other medicines that he had always been promising for her . With a heavy heart he told her that he would surely  do so when the 2nd installment was given .  Right now their daughter Sivakami and the two grandkids were having a rough time because of the Pandemic and also their Son In Law was not having much of a business as an Auto Driver as there is hardly any movement in these difficult pandemic  times .  Velammal

3 Generations of Cycle Riders - 335(183)

THE ART OF LEARNING TO RIDE A                                                    CYCLE  We have all , as a kid ,  learnt to ride the cycle the very hard way . The innumerable bruises on our hands , legs or elbow must be still fresh in everyone's  memory . Many of us  carry some scar or the other which  remind us of the same . I for one lost half of one my front tooth in one such mishap . The poor cycle in its totally dilapidated state must also  be  having many a  scar and  bend on its frame because of the innumerable falls , crashes and dashes against all and sundry  while you ,  me and we  learnt the delicate art of balancing .  The thrill that  you got when you finally managed to balance and pedal a few Mts is I am sure no way  less than the thrill Mountaineers experienced when they were at the summit of Mt Everest  . My first tryst with the cycle was when I was in  my 5th standard at Street 30 , 1A , Bhilai in the then Madhya Pradesh and the present day   Chattisgadh . T

Visually Impaired Leading the Way 334

VISUALLY IMPAIRED SHOWING THE WAY Below is my Translation into English of a WhatsApp post in Tamil which I liked very much.  My English  with a few concessions here and there  could  be termed as paasable but my Tamil is woefully inadequate . I request you to bear with me for any mistakes that you might notice in my  narration of the original in Tamil . Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxcx                 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx It was one of those ordinary weekend days in Singapore . One of the Multi National Industrial Corporations who are also a part of a supply chain where I work had arranged a fund raising Campaign for the Visually Impaired . I got an invite for this show . Since it was on a weekend , I had my own second thoughts on visiting this show as I was sure that it would be one of those insipid things that hardly  had anything entertaining about it . I was mulling if it would be  worthwhile to spend the weekend in a more relaxed way instead  . Being single in Singapore has its own drawbacks. You

WHO IS TO BE BLAMED- 333

Image
WHO IS TO BE BLAMED  By all accounts , Tamilnadu can be considered to be among the Elite States of the Country . The State has more Urban Population than the Rural Ones . It is one of the most Industrialized States and a Manufacturing Hub of Varied Items both for local use and for Exports . Though not at the Zenith , it is one of the most Literate States in India . Has the Highest number of Engineering and Medical Colleges in the Country . Medical Infrastructure is the Best in the Country and is often referred to as the Medical Capital of the country .                          Inspite and despite all these praise worthy features , we sadly lag way behind in the Covid Vaccination figures . We seem to be performing worse than the "PAAN BEAD A " States .                         I would lay the blame for this on the 24x7 and mostly selective  Media Hype and the Election Related negative propaganda that was let loose . A ) First and Foremost the Emergency Ap

Looking Down From 550 Mts - 332 (79)

Image
LOOKING DOWN AT      NEAR 550 MTS OF            ALMOST NOTHING  This is the view from the top of the CN Towers in Downtown , Toronto . This is also  supposedly  the 4 th Tallest Man Made Tower in the World .The height is 550 Mts . The Glass Covered Capsule Elevator takes you to the top in less than a Minute to reach the top at a Gravity Defying 15 Kmph . It is almost like an Astronaut on a vertical lift off ,though at a much lower speed .  The climb itself is sure to bring the jitters in ones stomach and the view from very top is spine chilling .  The highlight ofcourse is the gaze from the absolutely Transparent GLASS BOTTOM FLOOR at the top . It does require a lot of courage to walk on the Highly Reinforced ,  Absolutely Transparent  Glass Floor and look down at 550 Mts of nothing below you .  It gives one  a feel of walking in thin air and the Cars and Airplanes in the Island Airport Looking as Small as ants or bees .  You can get a better feel of the enormity of the place if you j

MY LONDON VISIT RECAPTURED - 331 (203)

There was a recent post in the Whatsapp group about the Buckingham Palace and its opulence . Considering that this is the home of a Royalty that at one time ruled Three Fourths of the world , that is hardly a surprise .  This brought back my own  memories of my  visit to LONDON and other places of interest around it .  Only too happy to relive and share the same .
