RANDOM THOUGHTS

I guess I would be a in a  very limited company of people to have visited and  seen the EIFFEL TOWER in all its glory in PARIS and its miniature version at Montmartre some 80 km drive from Regina . The fact that a place named as Montmartre  exist in both Paris in France and at a place near Regina in Canada sounds awesome but the similarity ends with the name alone . The one in Paris  is a busy suburb and with many other tourist attractions . Montmartre near Regina is anything but that . It is a small but beautiful village with all facilities including a park which also boasts of a swimming pool . More interestingly , the village has a population of only  450 people living at any given time . The local authority's efforts in promoting such a small place as a tourist destination needs to be admired . A lesson needs to be learnt here  for promoting the innumerable destinations of tourist interest that exist  back home in India.

DOES KNOWING LANGUAGES MAKE                      ME AN OUTCASTE                          At the outset i would like to make it clear that i have a  fairly large circle of friends who are active members in various whatsapp groups . Having had my stay at  various places during my formative years and now almost an annual sojourn abroad , i have quite a few friends who  have different Indian Languages as their mother tongue . I am myself  a sort of a language freak and am comfortable at all levels with English , Hindi and Tamil and am able to manage  at the spoken level  with Telugu , Bengali Gujarathi and Marathi. On Hindi Day which is being celebrated across the nation  , I for my part sent a message on various whatsapp groups hailing the occasion . The mistake i made was that i had scripted the same in the  the Devnagari . This though welcomed in certain circles did not find favour with my friends circle nearer home . I wish to emphasize that Tamil is my Mother Tongue and am as proud

The good old Fountain Pen after being in the limelight for all the  modern day Scientific Invention of Intellectual or Spirutual  Thoughts / Theories has had to take a back seat  and make way for  the Key Board on a Computer or a Mobile Phone . I think this could  be better illustrated by playing a game . Travel down your memory lane and try to recollect the last time you  made use of a Fountain Pen to write anything of substance of more than 50 words  . You would be surprised at the answers . It could be weeks or months for the not so old  and for people touching the sixties  and beyond like me .  It could be years and in fact a few decades for the majority of the people . I for one do not recollect having made  use of a pen except for filling up a form at the  Railway Reservation Counter or at  the odd Bank for filling the Challan for almost a few decades now . Continuing with the time travel , during the School or College days   the Fountain Pen was always a Prized Possession .

That Chandrayan 2 Mission was an absolute success but for the very last minute hitch is an achievement with witch we  as Indians should all be proud of . Barring criticism from the few known and expected  Quarters in our own backyard alley who termed it as an absolute waste of resources  and a squandering of public money , 120 Crore Indians however  joined together to congratulate the Team Chandrayan for its stupendous achievements and wishes for an even better success in its mission ahead came pouring in . Outer space exploration is no stroll in the park on a sunny evening with your sweetheart for company . It is an exploration in to totally unchartered territory where no one has even ventured before . The complexities involved are innumerable , multi faceted , precise and almost  beyond the understating  of a common lay man . Day and night view of the same place presents a very contrasting picture . Yours truly had this  opportunity to picture the same . The frames show the CN Towers ( The fourth tallest man made structure on the planet ) , in all its illuminated glory  during the night and in bright sunshine during the day  . The view is all the more remarkable as it is taken from the Ferry Ride to the Central Island , Toronto , Canada .
