RISK MANAGEMENT- AN ALL NEW MEANING One of the oft repeated terms in Mangement Studies or Classes is RISK MANAGEMENT . The term is sure to send the shivers down a person when he comes across the term for the first time .   For the common man what it entails is the listing out the possible scenarios while embarking on a job and have a Plan A B or C to successfully face them .  Let us for a start imagine a man from Chennai on a Holy Visit to Kashi to cleanse himself with a bath in the Holy Ganges and to pay his obeisance to Kashi Vishwanath . What are the likely items that go to make this happen , Should be able to get the Train Reservations. Should have no health issues before or during the journey , should have enough finances for the trip , Weather Gods should be on the same page ,  suitable place of stay should be available , South Indian Food should be available , coping up with lack of Knowledge in Hindi should be managed  etc etc , the list could go on and on .     Ravanasamudram Village Festival -2021 The Annual Village Festival of the Chokkanather - Meenakshiamman Temple which  draws  the natives from across India and abroad year  was a bit  subdued this year because of the prevailing Covid restrictions . Nonetheless , barring the missing outstation regulars and the 10 day festive atmosphere with no cooking took place in any of the houses in the village as the same was provided at Ramani Bharadwaj s Mandapam from the contributions of the visiting and inhouse devotees . Barring these two unavoidable hitches , the function went off all really  very well and all minure details were taken care .                  मैं कोई डरपोक नहीं हूँ -- 278  २३ मार्च २०२० के बाद ऎसा बहुत ही कम समय होगा जब मैने मास्क का इस्तेमाल ना किया हो 1   मुझे नहीं मालुम , दूसरों और खुद की भलाई के बारे में सोचने के बावजूद मेरे मास्क का इस्तेमाल करने पर आम जनों को क्या आपत्ति है और मुझे ऐक डरपोक माना जाता है 1  मै बताना चाहता हूँ कि मै डरपोक नहीं हूण१   मेरा सड़क , रास्ते , दूकान या किसी भी आम जगह पर मास्क का इस्तेमाल करने का कारण ये है की  मै खुद कोविद नेगेटिव होने के बावजूद दूसरों को फैला सकता हूँ 1 मुझे कोविद से डर नहीं है , मै इस समस्या से बाहर निकलने में जहां तक हो सके अपना हाथ बटाना चाहता हूँ  1    मै नहीं मानता हूँ की सरकार मुझ पर किसी प्रकार का प्रतिबन्ध लगा रही है १  दूसरों के बारे में सोचकर अगर हम पेश आये तो ये दुनिया और भी खूबसूरत बनायी जा सकती है  १  मास्क पेहेनना मुझे डरपोक ,  उल्लू या किसी के कहने पर मानने वाला नहीं बल्कि ऐक समझदार इनसान जो दूसरों की भलाई चाहता है उसे पेश करता है १  खुद को मास्क पहन कर अपनी ढिकावट के बारे में सोचना छोड़कर , उनके बारे में सोचो जिन्हे तुमने अस्पताल में कई कठिनाईय

              WELL PLAYED TEAM INDIA  Over the last nearly 60 years , I have been following the Cricket  Matches played by India over the Radio , Transistor Set , Television Set and now on the Mobile Phone.  Over the years The 5 Day  Test Matches have  slowly begun  to loose its sway over the cricket loving fraternity once the T20 and ODI Formats started being played round the year. IPL Matches because of its fanbase and Monetary Attractions became almost the ultimate in Cricket.  Players from  across the Globe were only too eager to be a part of this extravaganza and rake in the fast moolah.  The recently concluded 4 TEST - India - Australia Test Series played Down - Under however went on to prove how wrong the above conclusion were .        Flooding at Agasthiarpatty  and    Blizzard At REGINA/CANADA 14/1/2021 Even as I try to get on with the daily routine in the face of continous heavy rains at Agasthiarpatty for the last almost a Week now , the news of the plummeting Temperatures and Blizzard at Regina in Canada some 13500 kms away from where I am  does make it an interesting event  . The pool of water all around my house at Agasthiarpatt because of the rains and the WHITE sheet of SNOW all around at Regina does present a picture of  Extreme Contrasts. My SIL Kamesh had to face the fury of one such Blizzard on his way back from work today and his vehicle got stuck in the snowfall yesterday even as I was battling the flooding waters back home . Kamesh got help from his office mates and is back home safely .            TAMBARABARANI IN SPATE  The continous and steady rainfall during the current monsoon seasons  in the catchment areas of all major dams in Tirunelveli District had left all the Dams full or almost full . Papanasam and Manimuthar Dams the biggest Dams in the District were letting out almost 2000 Cusecs of water for almost the last 15 days . Heavy and continuous rainfall over the last four days in and around Ambasamudram and the Pothigai Hills has flooded the entire area so much so that 40000 Cusecs of water are being let out from the dams . Manimuthar the biggest dam with a capacity of nearly 5500 Million Cubic Feet has all its 7 Gates opened .  Though all precautions need to be taken immidiately to avoid damages of any sort, it is surely good news for the Drinking and Agricultural requirements of Tirunelveli and all the neighboring Districts which are largely dependent on these two Dams for all their needs . 

                  STORM AND ANGER  A Cyclonic STORM and ANGER  bear a very strong similarity with each other . The damage caused by them can be gauged only after it has passed them . The destruction caused by a STORM can be  counted  in the number of houses destroyed , loss of life , livestock , blackouts due to disruption in supply lines , communication disruption , loss to farming activities and farm related produce due to the flooding  . All these can be quantified and a value placed on the monetary losses incurred which could always be rebuilt over a period of time sans the loss of life  . The damage caused by the display of ANGER is a lot more difficult to evaluate . Many a relationship between a couple , friends , relatives , officemates , Superiors have had disastrous consequences due to the use of that  ONE WORD OR SENTENCE that was   used during an argument.   CHINNA SANKARANKOVIL  REVISITED As the name implies , Chinna Sankarankovil ,   located in Ambasamudram has the same presiding Deities of Sankara Narayana and Gomathi Amman as that of its more famous SANKARANKOVIL in Tenkasi District . The Tambarabarani River winding its way  and flowing past The Chinna Sankarankovil Temple makes this an ideal place to visit for both the Religious minded and Water fun lovers .  This place is hardly 5 kms from our place of stay at AGASTHIARPATTY . Over the years , I have visited this place innumerable number of times . I have been  fortunate to receive quite a few visitors ,  freinds and  relatives at my place in Agasthiarpatty . I doubt if any of my guests would have ever missed being taken  to this must see place . The recent visit by my relatives from Chennai was extra special as they also  had Connection with the Original & more famous Sankarankovil which happens to be the Native Place  of their new addition in their immediate  family  .  The f

  MEETING COLLEGE MATES AFTER 40+                                     YEARS                                         As I had mentioned in my earlier Blogs , I had done my Textile Technology at SASMIRA , Mumbai in 1972 and then went on to serve from 1974 at Madura Coats down at Extreme South VK PURAM . The three years  at Sasmira were the best years which resulted in many friendships which has stood the test of time all these years .  Ours was so to say  a diverse group which had apart from me , another Tamilian and a relative by a long shot from Ravanasamudram , A Gujarati , A Mangalorean  , An Andhraite and lastly one from Chapra in Bihar . Four of us in the batch were extra close and shared experiences and memories which  no TIME or any other factor can or will erase.  3  of the batchmates pursued their carrier in Mumbai while I chose to venture South . Though we all went our separate ways , our plan to meet and have a get together  were not very often , in fact it was only once , wh
