       WHY NOT BE THE GAMECHANGER  . I have been a regular user of the mask ever since the Pandemic raised its ugly head some 18 months or so back. Limiting my trips outside the confines of the house has been restricted to the absolute minimum . I am not sure how being considerate to others for everyone's common good is  being mocked by some who are calling it “living in fear”, but it needs to stop.... When I wear a mask over my nose and mouth in public and in the shops/Supermarkets/Pharmacies or Offices - I want you to know the following: 🔵 I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus. 🔵 No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem. 🔵 I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to the security in our society and I want to teach others the same. 🔵 If we could all live with the consideration of others in mind,

          DILEMMA OF WHAT TO DISCARD  The piece below in Tamil is almost a commentary on the floods in Kerala and the hardships faced . It touches many a raw nerve as I recollect the situation as it unfolded at a much toned down level at Agasthiarpatty earlier this year . இதுதான் வாழ்க்கை ! கேரள வெள்ளம் உணர்த்தும் பாடம் ! “இந்தப் பகுதி இன்னும் அரைமணி நேரத்தில் மூழ்கிவிடும்.  முக்கியமானதை மட்டும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வெளியேறுங்கள்” இதைக் கேட்டபோது அவர்கள் முழங்கால் அளவு தண்ணீரில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இப்போது அவர்கள் பிரச்சினை எதையெல்லாம் எடுத்துக்கொள்வது என்பதல்ல எதையெல்லாம் கைவிடுவது என்பதுதான். முதலில் கைகளில் எதையெல்லாம் தூக்கிக்கொள்ள முடியாதோ அதையெல்லாம் கைவிட்டார்கள்.  பிறகும் கைவிடுவதற்கு ஏராளமாக இருந்தன. பரிசுப்பொருள்கள் தெய்வப்படங்கள் புகைப்பட ஆல்பங்கள் ஆடைகள் உள்ளாடைகள் புத்தகங்கள் இசைக்கருவிகள் இசைப்பேழைகள் ஸ்பூன்கள் கண்ணாடிக் கோப்பைகள் பொம்மைகள் கண்ணீரின் உப்புப் படிந்த தலையணைகள் உடல் வாசனையுள்ள போர்வைகள் அழகு சாதனப்பொருள்கள் கைவிடுவதற்கு முடிவேயில்லாமல் ஏராளமாக இருந்தன. நீங்க

      WHEN ARE WE  EVER GOING TO LEARN    The accident sight/site  on the Ambai - Papanasam Highway recently a  made very sad viewing . The two wheeler was a total wreck  but fortunately both the rider and his companion were safe but with serious injuries needing urgent medical attention. The Ambai - Papanasam Highway is by no stretch of imagination anywhere  in the same league as the highways of their more famous Metro City Cousins . Even so , hardly a day passes without an accident or a mishap and most curiously almost always during the late evening hours . The frequent road accidents and the heavy toll on the lives and livelihood of the concerned  does imply that something is surely wrong with the way we address SAFETY . Other road users inform me that the accident in question happened because the the Two Wheeler Rider was totally Blinded by the WHITE LED LIGHT of the approaching vehicle on the opposite side which was without the mandatory BLACK BULLSEYE SHADING on its headlights .

 सिमरणजीत की कई सालों की तपस्या के बाद भगवान् ने खुश होकर उसको दर्शन दी और पूछा , हम आप से खुश हुवे , मांगो क्या मांगना चाहते हो  सिमरणजीत , बहुत देर तक सोचकर जवाब दिया , भगवन ,  और क्या पूछे आपसे  , मरण से मुक्ती मिले तो बड़ी कृपा होगी  भगवान् कई देर सोचने के बाद कहा , ये तो ना मुमकिन है , लेकिन अगर तुम यही चाहते हो तो ठीक है , हम आपको मरण से मुक्ती देतें हैं  सिमरणजीत बहुत खुश होकर अपनी घर की ओर जाने लगा . थोड़ी दूर चलने के बाद उसे ऐक भिकारी मिला . खुशी से  सिमरणजीत ने उसे १०० रुपैये दिये  भिकारी ने कहा , जुग जुग जियो बेटा , क्या नाम है आपका , मै भगवान् से आप के लिये दुआ मांगूंगा  सिमरणजीत ने कहा , ज़रूर कीजिये मेरा नाम  सी-------जीत , सी-------जीत , बीच में मरण गायब था और वो बोल  नहीं पा रहा था  अगर सिमरणजीत चालाक था , तो भगवान् की बात तो कुछ और  ही है !!! .

   THAI CINE s AT VICKRAMASINGAPURAM I have very fond and lasting memories  of THAI CINES at Vickramasingapuram . This has been the place where Innumerable Movies with friends and later with family were seen and enjoyed before the advent of the digital era.  My very own thoughts and feelings have been so beautifully penned by  :  M Bharahymuthunayagam in his facebook post . He does deserve all the credit for a posting which is sure to bring back many a nostalgic memory of the good old days .          HOLYDAY OR HOLIDAY           WHICH IS CORRECT  ? For the uninformed , it is always a challenge to correctly spell the word HOLIDAY OR HOLYDAY . Surprisingly even the renowned OXFORD , CAMBRIDGE OR WEBSTER DICTIONARIES are not very forthcoming in this matter  My chance encounter with the Published  List of  Closures in the not so recent British Government's Public Holidays or Holydays in the MADRAS PRESIDENCY for the year 1832 makes for an interesting reading .         ETERNAL FLAME AT OTTAWA / CANADA  Visiting any place that has an Historical Connect with it is always something special and one sort of gets transported into the bygone ages of the past . This is the Canadian Parliament Building Complex at its Capital at Ottawa . It is at a distance of 450 Kms from Toronto and I was able  to cover the distance in a just s little over   Four hours which included a stop on the way for refreshments . This  speaks volumes about the Condition of the roads and the strict road rules followed . Mind you , I did not come across the use of the  HORN  even once during the entire journey with extremely high volume of vehicles of all sizes whizzing past each other at 120 plus Kmph . The Canadian Parliament Building was constructed in the middle 1850 s . The fact that I was looking into a building which came into being almost a 100 years before I was even born added a new charm .  The Eternal Flame in front of the Complex with the flame billowing out of CIRC

                           NAVARAATRI -2021  2021 Navaraatri Celebrations , for reasons that are not hard to guess was a comparatively low key affair . Mami though was very eager to make the occasion as attractive as possible even in the toned down version . Today the  6 th of  Oct being the First Day of the 9 Day event was held in all pomp and diligence befitting the Occasion . Mami was all too eager to make this a memorable event and yours truely helped in the Golu Padi Erection and in any other way possible  .
