WE BOTH LEFT THE HOUSE WHEN WE  WERE EIGHTEEN

YOU SUCCESSFULLY CLEARED THE JEE EXAMINATIONS

I cleared the Examination for joining the army .

YOU JOINED  THE IIT KHARAGPUR FOR HIGHER STUDIES .
I joined as a TRAINEE  at the National Defence Academy.  NDA. KHADAGVASLA .
YOU GOT TRAINED TO BE AN ENGINEER .
I Got Trained to be an Armyman
YOUR DAY STARTS AT 7 AM AND ENDS AT AROUND 5 PM
My day starts at 4 AM and ends at 9 PM , on some days we are awake almost the whole night on line of duty .
YOU HAD GRADUATION DAY WHEN YOU COMPLETED YOUR COURSE .
I had a Passing Out Parade on completion of my Training .
YOU GOT A JOB
I got a way of life .
YOU GOT A CHANCE TO MEET YOUR PARENTS OFTEN .
I had to endure endless wait to meet my parents .
YOU CELEBRATED MANY COLOURFULLY LIGHTED AND DECORATED FESTIVALS IN THE COMPANY  OF ALL YOUR NEAR AND DEAR ONES .
I have celebrated the very same functions in  dark  bunkers with my fellow armymen for company .

BOTH OF US GOT MARRIED ALMOST AT THE SAME TIME

YOUR WIFE WAS HAPPY TO MEET YOU EVERY EVENING .

My wife was  happy to learn that I was even  alive each evening when we called each other .

YOU WERE SENT TO MANY PLACES AS PART OF YOUR JOB .

I was sent to many far off and inhospitable terrains  as part of our duty to the Nation .

WE BOTH RETURNED HOME .
OUR WIVES WERE UNABLE TO STOP THE FLOW OF TEARS IN THEIR EYES .

YOU WIPED THE TEARS OFF YOUR WIFE s FACE .

I was not able to do the same for my wife .

YOU EMBRACED YOUR WIFE LOVINGLY

I was unable to do the same for my wife

                    BECAUSE

I was lying in a CASKET with MEDALS on my chest and the Tricolor over my body .

BOTH OF US LEFT OUR HOUSE WHEN WE WERE EIGHTEEN

My life has ended so that yours may begin .
My short life may not have been much but there are lessons from my Army Days that may be of use to others who read this .

BE BRAVE LIKE A LION AND ALSO HUMBLE AS A DOVE .
BE GENTLE AS A SAINT AND FEARLESS AS A WARRIOR .
ALWAYS DIGNIFIED AND A PERSON COMMANDING RESPECT .
BEING  TRUE AND SINCERE TO YOUR MOTHERLAND TILL YOUR LAST BREATH.
THIS IS THE PHILOSOPHY AND THE  BELIEF SYSTEM IN EVERY SOLDIER'S LIFE .

FOR WHOM DOES HE LIVE OR FOR WHOM DOES HE DIE .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Lunch packet Distribution done we were on our way and were before time at Lucknow .  Lucknow was a lot different from what I had imagined , airport was spotlessly clean as was their baggage handling services .  Mr Ashok saw to it that we were off on a Bus to Ayodhya in a flash . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
