FEELS NICE TO BE A PART OF A GLOBAL COMPANY - 215
NICE TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF A GLOBAL COMPANY OF NEARLY 140 YEARS STANDING
My son Haarish and Family were on a Weekend Visit to Muskoka Lake from Ajax where they stay in Canada . Enroute in a small Village Convenience store he noticed a picture from the 1890 s
J & P COATS SIX - CORD COTTON SPOOL
As can be rightly expected he forwarded the picture which I am now sharing in My Blog
It really feels nice when you realize that you have Worked in a Global Company for almost 30 Years and more so because the PAPANASAM Unit is almost 135 years old now . Worldover there can be hardly any home without a COATS SEWING THREAD OR ITS ALLIED PRODUCTS in their homes in some form or the other at any given point of time . If nothing else , the dresses that we all wear will surely have the Coats Sewing Thread - Ametto - Anchor or Spade as a component for stitching the same .
An interesting and somewhat sentimental incident comes to mind here . My mother was always very good with her hands and her sewing ability was always looked at in awe by others . During my School days , we were at Kharagpur in West Bengal . Whenever there was a requirement for Sewing Thread , she would ask me to be a good boy and cycle to the PUJARA DOKAN in GOL BAZAAR and get the COATS SEWING THREAD IN THE WOODEN SPOOL . This was the only shop where she knew this to be available . Little did we know of the connection that this WOODEN SPOOL was going to have for me in later years at Omega Threads .
My joy is even more pronounced because I have been very much a part of the Installation and Commissioning of the Wooden Spool Winding Machine at its Omega Threads Group Operations at Ambasamudram when it was being newly started .
THANK YOU HAARISH FOR FORWARDING THE SAME , IT MEANT A LOT .
One of my MBA classmates also worked for Coats in the UK. Laizhen Lu (Lucy) was CSR Director. In 2003 she visited the Vikramasingapuram mills and had a grand reception into the sanctum sanctorum of Madurai Meenakshi temple.
ReplyDeleteVery nice to see this century old company's(which was our career birth place) ad and feel proud that we were a part of its growth and glory..
