SAFETY IS THE LEAST OF THEIR CONCERNS - 251

The accident sight/site  on the Ambai - Papanasam Highway late yesterday evening made very sad viewing . The two wheeler was a total wreck  but fortunately both the rider and his companion were safe but with serious injuries needing urgent medical attention.

The Ambai - Papanasam Highway by no stretch of imagination can ever be imagined  to be in the same league as the highways of their more famous Metro City Cousins . Even so , hardly a day passes without an accident or mishap .

The frequent road accidents and the heavy toll on the lives and livelihood does imply that something is surely wrong with the way we address SAFETY .

The accident in question ,  other road users inform me happened because the the Two Wheeler Rider was totally blinded by the WHITE LED LIGHT of the approaching vehicle on the opposite side without the BLACK BULLSEYE SHADING on its headlights .

It is tragic that both the authorities concerned and the law enforcing agencies  have blinders over   their eyes and fail to  prevent accidents that are just waiting to happen each evening or night accross all our roads . They seem to be unwilling to ensure as simple a thing as the shading of the Bullseye on the Headlights of all vehicles on the road in their jurisdiction to prevent these accidents .

EASIER STILL , WHY CAN'T THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS OF BOTH THE 2 AND 4 WHEELERS BLACKEN THE BULLS EYE HEADLIGHTS EVEN AS THE VEHICLES ARE MAKING THEIR WAY OUT OF THEIR  ASSEMBLY LINES . THEY COULD EVEN DESIGN AND ADD THEIR BRAND LOGO IN THE BULLSEYE .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in .                   Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
