 Weatherman Predictions go for a Toss 

I have always held the view that the IMD and the Weathermen have been doing a splendid job as far as Weather Forecasts are concerned . GAJA OCKHI NIRAV of the very recent past come to mind . Pinpointing the Precise Path , Duration and Severity have  been instrumental in aiding the Govts of the day to take advance measures to save lives , create shelters for the poor by providing a safe place to stay during the cyclone and provide them with food and offer Medical Facilities . 

Getting the Fishing Folks and their boats back  safely anchored forms a very Important part of the Govt and the Weathermans Reports form the basis fot this.

THEY HAVE BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN SAVING MEN MATERIAL.AND LIVESTOCK .

The current BUREVI Cyclone has however been a disaster and the Weathermans Reports have gone for a complete toss .

For the last one Week we have been inundated with the news about the Burevi Cyclone and the news about it making a landfall somewhere between Pamban and Kanyakumari Coasts .

I am at Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli District . This place is just on the foothills of the Western Ghats and the Months of Nov/Dec bring in copious amount of rains during these months . The forecast for from the 2nd Dec onwards  for this place was extremely high rainfall with winds close to 60 kms per hour .

It is now 7.30 pm on the 4th Dec . The place is almost bone dry with not a drop of rain anywhere close by . Not a leaf has fallen from the many trees all around my house as there are no winds at all .

More importantly , places mentioned just in passing are inundated and a flood crisis is looming in large parts of these areas . 

Places highlighted as likely to face the wrath of a major cyclone are clean and dry . 

Something surely seems to have gone amiss here . We are a Nation which prides itself on being on  the threshold of being a SUPER POWER and a Leading Economic Power.  Our Scientific Advancement are an envy of the World at Large . 

If investments have to be made in terms of Manpower , Knowledge and Instruments , then this is the right time to do so .

I have been witness to Weather Forecasts in  UK and  Canada where they are able to predict the TIME and AMOUNT of RAIN , SNOWFALL ,HAILSTORM , TEMPERATURE to the very Hour/Minute or Cms or Centigrade to very precise levels . People embark upon any activity after looking at the Hourly  Weather Bulletin. 

HOW I WISH WE COULD REACH SUCH LEVELS

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
