 TRAVEL DOWN THE MEMORY LANE 



I somehow find this *Travel Down the Memory Lane* a particularly invigorating experience . I could assign various reasons for this , Chief among which is the fact that being from the old school , I am a bit fond of being  nostalgic of past reminisces  and tend to relive the past at every opportunity that come my way . The additional fact  that I am getting on in age and any opportunity to re visit the past is always a welcome recap which I like to  treasure  in my  memory  .

One such journey takes me back to the year 1976 , when I was the proud  owner of a Motor Cycle , Royal Enfield Crusader .  In those days there was hardly any traffic on the road . I distinctly remember not coming across any vehicular traffic in the opposite direction during my entire travel from Kallidaikurichy Natesan Petrol Bunk  to our Bachelor Quarters accomodation at Papanasam Madura Coats Mill Colony which could be easily in the range of 15 to 20 Kms . 

In those days the only Petrol Pump or Bunk  (  They are now given a  more respectable name  and go by the name of  The Hallowed  Gas Stations )  were one near the Ambai Railway Station ( Muthulakshmi Petrol Bunk ) and the other one just past the Kallidaikurichy Railway Station ( Natesan Agency ) . The next petrol bunk was only at Melapalayam if you were on the way to Tirunelveli nearly 30 kms away . 

The situation today is totally different . Every Minute a huge number of vehicles of all sizes and varieties whizz past you in both directions and more importantly  there are now more than 15 well equipped Gas Stations within a redius of 10 Kms from Ambasamudram Railway Station limits  .

WE HAVE SURELY MOVED FAST IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Lunch packet Distribution done we were on our way and were before time at Lucknow .  Lucknow was a lot different from what I had imagined , airport was spotlessly clean as was their baggage handling services .  Mr Ashok saw to it that we were off on a Bus to Ayodhya in a flash . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands . VAIKOM VISIT- IN GODS OWN COUNTRY - 686

 VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
