My Change of Heart - 411

                 MY  CHANGE OF HEART 





Unlike many who might be reading this blog , yours truely has never been any good at courting in the years that mattered . 

Be that as it may . I have had friends who were very good in this delicate art . Here are a few takes from my interactions with these fortunate souls .

Spending hours together waiting for the arrival of the daily fix was never a bore . The very sight of the same on your doorstep be it Mumbai , Toronto, Regina or Agasthiarpatty was sure to make the ensuing day all the more special .

Hours spent together  in each others company , getting to know more about each other's near one's and the one's that are far away . Discussing the Politics , Movies or Sports was a sure time kill .

IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING AS TO WHAT I AM REFERRING TO , I WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU , I WAS ONLY REFERRING TO THE DAILY NEWSPAPER . IN MY CASE IT HAPPENS TO BE                                    " THE HINDU " 

Ever since 1974 , THE HINDU , newspaper has been a constant company all these long years save for the months that I have been away with my children abroad . It would not be out of place here to mention that my father too was an addict to this Newspaper .

This famed Newspaper with its Elephant Insignia and helmed by the KASTURIRANGAN FAMILY  was almost a member of my own family . Their Editorials , Political Analysis , Sports and Events Coverage , A neutral stand on any steps introduced by the Center Or State Government, willing to appreciate a good measure or lambast the same when required made this a worthy company for almost half a century and almost  till the last 8 years or so .

Things are no more the same now , for reasons which are all too obvious , there has been a total turn  around in their stance so much so that the very name " THE HINDU " appears a misnomer   .

Today the 3 rd of September 2021 brings this long cherished experience to an unfortunate end  . 

I have this day decided to make a new start with 

              "  THE NEW INDIAN EXPRESS "

      I have been wanting to change over to either TIMES OF INDIA or THE NEW INDIAN EXPRESS for quite sometime now . Staying at Agasthiarpatty, I had no other option as THE HINDU was the only English Language Newspaper available till very recently.

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Lunch packet Distribution done we were on our way and were before time at Lucknow .  Lucknow was a lot different from what I had imagined , airport was spotlessly clean as was their baggage handling services .  Mr Ashok saw to it that we were off on a Bus to Ayodhya in a flash . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands . VAIKOM VISIT- IN GODS OWN COUNTRY - 686

 VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
