How much lower can you stoop  

The last few days have been headline making in the sense that THE CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF GEN BIPIN RAWAT , HIS WIFE PLUS 12 OTHER DEFENCE PERSONNEL have met with an untimely death because of a suspected Malfunction of the Helicopter in which they were travelling from the Sulur Air Base near Coimbatore to the Military Academy at Wellington in the Nilagiris . A highly acclaimed General who was at the forefront of the Indo China Skirmishes recently  is sadly no more. The whole Nation stood as one to mourn this untimely loss .

Till the very recent past I had been a regular of  " THE HINDU " Newspaper . For reasons which I had mentioned in my earlier posts , I have taken to the other Newspapers .

The particular post on the front page of the Newspaper dated Dec 9 /2021 highlighting the tragic event makes very sad reading .

" The Hindu ^ by the look of it does not seem it fit to add the CDS OR CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF NOR APPROPRIATE TO MENTION THE HIGHLY DECORATED HEAD OF INDIA'S DEFENCE ESTABLISHMENT BY HIS FULL NAME OF 

GENERAL BIPIN RAWAT - CDS 

Sad indeed , the self proclaimed National Newspaper is loosing its Market Share each passing day . That I suppose is a boon and glad that it is that way . It has outlived its past glory .

  MY  CHANGE OF HEART 

Unlike many who might be reading this blog , yours truely has never been any good at courting in the years that mattered . 

Be that as it may . I have had friends who were very good in this delicate art . Here are a few takes from my interactions with these fortunate souls .

Spending hours together waiting for the arrival of the daily fix was never a bore . The very sight of the same on your doorstep be it Mumbai , Toronto, Regina or Agasthiarpatty was sure to make the ensuing day all the more special .

Hours spent together  in each others company , getting to know more about each other's near one's and the one's that are far away . Discussing the Politics , Movies or Sports was a sure time kill .

IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING AS TO WHAT I AM REFERRING TO , I WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU , I WAS ONLY REFERRING TO THE DAILY NEWSPAPER . IN MY CASE IT HAPPENS TO BE                                    " THE HINDU " 

Ever since 1974 , THE HINDU , newspaper has been a constant company all these long years save for the months that I have been away with my children abroad . It would not be out of place here to mention that my father too was an addict to this Newspaper .

This famed Newspaper with its Elephant Insignia and helmed by the KASTURIRANGAN FAMILY  was almost a member of my own family . Their Editorials , Political Analysis , Sports and Events Coverage , A neutral stand on any steps introduced by the Center Or State Government, willing to appreciate a good measure or lambast the same when required made this a worthy company for almost half a century and almost  till the last 8 years or so .

Things are no more the same now , for reasons which are all too obvious , there has been a total turn  around in their stance so much so that the very name " THE HINDU " appears a misnomer   .

Today the 3 rd of September 2021 brings this long cherished experience to an unfortunate end  . 

I have this day decided to make a new start with 

              "  THE NEW INDIAN EXPRESS "
