With the Covid Restrictions in full  force ,  the Annual Thyagaraja Aaradhanai of Saint Thyagaraja was held at THIRUVAIARU in  as a  toned down Version . The reverence though was in no small measure  . It was a delight to experience the Devine Music as rendered in unison by all the eminent musicians . POTHIGAI DOORDARSHAN coverage of the event brought the experience to our Drawing Rooms .

This brought back fond memories of being personally  part of the function 3 years back with my better half  at THIRUVAIARU on the banks of the Cauvery .

The annual THYAGARAJA AARADHANAI ON BAHULA PANCHAMI Was held this year on the 25 th of January 2019.
I am a very great lover of music in all its forms , Carnatic , Hindustani , Tamil and Hindi Film Music of the vintage variety .
I must also confess my inability to differentiate the various Ragaa s but i do love and enjoy good music when i hear the same .
It is almost 10 years since this programme was telecast live on the BAHULA PANCHAMI Day and i had always made it a point to watch and enjoy the music on this auspicious day  . To hear all the famous exponents of Carnatic Music , the students of the various music colleges the laymen like me who like to tap their hands while listening to any good music is simply DIVINE .
The function is conducted every year at Thiruvayaiaru , which is some 10 kms from Thanjavur or 45 kms from Kumbakonam on the banks of the river Cauvery .
The weeklong festival draws musicians from across the country and Rasikaa s from all over the world . Every Musician of reknown performs during the festival here . Excellent arrangements are made for the stay and food besides the huge car parking area for all the visitors .
My urge to be a part of it in person was fulfilled this year . My better half being the daughter of a Music Teacher was a great help in getting to know the nuances . The nealy 8000 music lovers singing in unison the PANCHA RATNA KIRTEES OF THYAGA BRAMHA SATGURU SWAMIGAL is an experience well worth the wait all these long years .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Lunch packet Distribution done we were on our way and were before time at Lucknow .  Lucknow was a lot different from what I had imagined , airport was spotlessly clean as was their baggage handling services .  Mr Ashok saw to it that we were off on a Bus to Ayodhya in a flash . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
