 ITEMS KNOWN MORE  BY THEIR        SUPPOSED PLACE OF ORIGIN 


We have all come across items which gain attention and popularity by their own virtue or by virtue of belonging to a place they come to be associated with .

More often than not , both the item and the place of origin come to be addressed in unison .  

MAN has always been a Foodie and would not mind the trouble  to travel many a mile to satisfy his taste buds .  Food item and its  supposed place of  origin , which may or may not  always be true  come to be associated with it in unison .

Most of the present generation or the millennium kids are very much aware of the BOSTON PIZZAS , ITALIAN PASTA , FRENCH FRIES , SWISS CHOCOLATES and many other  such items .

Closer home , MYSORE PAK - MYSORE RASAM , LONAVALA CHIKKI , SHEGOAN KATCHORI ,BANARASI CHAT , KOLKATA ROSOGOLLA , MUMBAI BHEL PURI , CHOWPATTY VADA PAAV , MATUNGA CONCERNS LUNCH OR DINNER ,  GOA FENI , MADRAS MASALA DOSAI , MADURAI MALLIGAI POO IDLI , KUMBAKONAM DEGREE COFFEE , SANKARAN KOVIL PAAL KOVA , KOVILPATTY KADALAI MITTAI  and a hundred other such  items  are sure to make us long for these delicacies and get  our mouth watering. 

For those who rush to Courtallam each summer during the SEASON  for a splash in the water and are Non Veg , their itinerary must include a visit to the SHENKOTTAH BORDER BARROTTA KADAI , For the best service one is always advised to visit this place around midnight.,

Now , our own TIRUNELVELI is renowned for 3 items , it is only apt that we leave out the ARUVA part for very obvious reasons . 

No visit to TIRUNELVELI is complete without getting the Blessings of NELLAIAPPAR first in the TEMPLE and later ,   a visit to the NELLAI IRRUTTU KADAI HALWA SHOP  almost directly opposite to the FAMED TEMPLE. One has to face the music of very angry neighbors and friends if the TIRUNELVELI HALWA is not shared with them after your visit to Nellai for whatever reason . This is almost similar to the Mandatory sharing of LADDOO after a visit to THE  TIRUPATHY  BALAJI TEMPLE  .

Do take the trouble to Enquire and Savour the Delicacies of the place  you happen to visit or pass through  next time .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Lunch packet Distribution done we were on our way and were before time at Lucknow .  Lucknow was a lot different from what I had imagined , airport was spotlessly clean as was their baggage handling services .  Mr Ashok saw to it that we were off on a Bus to Ayodhya in a flash . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
