 AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV AT                     AJAX - TORONTO 

It was indeed a proud moment to see the 75 th Independence Day Celebrations on the Net via YouTube and Elsewhere in India.

The flag atop the houses of  my friends Shri  Raja and Shri   Vaigundaboopathy plus  the enthusiasm of my own 94 year old aunt waving the National Flag at her residence in Coimbatore was a sure sign of the NATIONAL SPIRIT being raised to a all new height all over the country . The entire Agrahaaram at Ravanasamudram with the National Flag fluttering atop each house was a sure pointer to the ushering in of a NEW AND VIBRANT INDIA . 

Stationed as I am now at Ajax /  Toronto in Canada , it was indeed wonderful to see the same spirit permeating among the Large Indian Diaspora settled here . The prominently  illuminated splash of National Colours in Shops which cater to the Indian Diaspora and at Eateries plus the National Flag atop many houses was a welcome sign . 

My Grandchildren were only too keen to know about our Independence Movement and the Struggles faced before we were finally free of the  Foreign Rule . 

They were only too   keen to see the National Flag atop our Balcony at Ajax in Canada and be a  part of this memorable event in our Nations History .




A proud moment indeed 

On the flip side though ,  in and  around my native place there still seem to be a sizable crowd who seem to have second thoughts of joining this National Awakening.

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Lunch packet Distribution done we were on our way and were before time at Lucknow .  Lucknow was a lot different from what I had imagined , airport was spotlessly clean as was their baggage handling services .  Mr Ashok saw to it that we were off on a Bus to Ayodhya in a flash . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
