 NOVEL METHODS OF LEARNING 

Our Parents and especially our Teachers had novel and unique ways of teaching the subjects or Languages during our early school days .

I distinctly remember the  difficulty i had in memorizing the spelling of ASSASSINATION . 

My English Teacher at Kharagpur was one Dr Bakshi whose ways with the students was always special . A bachelor of sorts and  well past his middle age , he always seemed to sprout a permanent frown on his face . Even the ever charming and elegantly clad Jarieth Madam , our Junior School English Teacher , seemed to have no sway over him . It was often rumored that the only time there was a slight twitch on  his lips was  when the huge Great Dane that he had in his house used to growl at an uninvited guest  . This six foot something man always carried a three  foot nothing cane on his hand . I and many of my classmates have been at the wrong end of this cane on quite a few occasions  .

Now , coming to the point , his failure to make me spell the word ASSASSINATION correctly inspite and despite all his efforts with the cane or otherwise , had him marching me into our Headmaster Mr Prasad's office .

A word or two about Mr Prasad , he was a portly man  with a very kind heart . Being a Bengali he always prided himself  on his intellectual abilities and wasted no effort to exhibit the same . He had a novel way of making the students learn the basics . His solution to the problem on hand was awesome .

Divide ASSASSINATION into four parts , ASS , ASS , I AND NATION and remember ,

FIRST ONE ASS , FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER ASS FOLLOWED BY YOU AND THE NATION BEHIND YOU .

I still have difficulty in spelling the word correctly , not sure if there is a C in there somewhere .

It is purely coincidental and unintended if this narrative ,  kind of resonates with the KANYAKUMARI TO KASHMIR BHARAT JODO MARCH THAT IS UNDERWAY NOW .
