   Drive through  the Southern Tip of India 

To be fair , I must confess that our plans to visit the Mutharamman Deity at Kulasekarapatnam had always  been a 30 year  long pending affair. Our earlier visits in and around this area had always been via the National Highway to Kanyakumari and Kulasekarapatnam was always the missing link here . For those not in the Knowhow , this place draws people in their Lakhs each year during the Navaratri or Dusssehra Festival and even otherwise , a  lot of people visit this Amman Temple on normal days .

Our visit to this place yesterday was via the Cheranmahadevi - Kalakkad - Thisayanvilai - Udangudi Route . We left our place at 7 .00 am . 

After our prayers at the feet of Mutharamman Deity , we had our breakfast at Mani Vilas which consisted of of the crisp Kal Dosai with equally delicious Sambar and Chutney . This small eatery may not boast of the many luxuries of its more affluent cousins , but the Food on offer was really superb . 

The owner of the joint informed us that Uvari was just 30 minutes  away by car and had 2 must see places . The Swuyambulinga Swami Temple and the Kappal Church were places which attracted visitors in large numbers . Taking this cue we too saw both these places and also took part in the abhishekam at the Siva Temple . 

This done , we visited Kanyakumari which was just 45 Kms from Uvari . Darshan at the Balaji and Bhaghavati Amman Temple at Kanyakumari ater the Lunch at Vivekananda Kendra was really fulfilling and awesome. 

We started our return from Kanyakumari at 4.30 pm and  were home by 6.45 pm . We had covered Nearly 320 Kms to see all these places in almost 12 hours . 

Apart from the Religious aspects the standout feature of this visit was the superb condition of the roads and the many installations of National and Strategic Importance around this area. Apart from the Agasthiarpatty to Cheranmahadevi stretch which is now being relaid into a 4 way lane and the small stretch from Thisayanvilai to Kulasekarapatnam all other roads were comparable to the very best in any part of the world . 

INS Kattabomman - the Naval/Defence Establishment,

 Koodamgulam - Nuclear Power Generation Station ,

 Mahendragiri -  Cryogenic Liquid Propulsion Research Centre ,

 Kulasekarapatnam - ISRO New Launch Pad being developed at the Thersal Kaadu in this area . 

All the above , inside a very small area has seen a lot of developmental activities  here . The excellent roads all around  being the first that comes to mind .  The National Highway Terminus at the lands end at Kanyakumari  is also a very interesting sight .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
