OUR FORTHCOMING VISIT TO SOMNATH AND DWARAKA - 547

VISIT TO THE RANN OF KUTCH 





 I must admit that The Almighty has been rather kind with me . Ever since my Childhood Days and More so with my Father being in a Senior Position in the Indian Railways I have had the Good  Fortune to Stay and Visit many places of Interest across the Length and Breadth of the Country .

 I have covered my International Travels in many of my Blogs .

One place that I seem to have missed thus far is the Rann of Kutch in India  and to be more precise , it is Baroda , Somnath and Dwaraka . This is in the West which is on the Gulf along the Western Coast in the form of the " U " in the illustrated Map . Self with my  Better Half and my Two Brother In Laws with their  own Better Halves have planned a visit to these Exotic Places which primarily have a special Spirutual Meaning attached to them .

I have been informed by my parents that I was  as an infant  brought up  in an Exclusive Railway Saloon ( A full Railway Coach which is more or less a HOUSE on wheels with kitchen , Drawing and a Bed Room with Bath attached  ) when my father was officially placed at Rajkot in Gujarat . This is very close to the place of our visit some 70 years later .

It is indeed a Longish and Eventful Journey as an  INFANT to a decidedly Old Man of 70+ years . 

We leave by Air from Chennai on the 22 nd of this Month and proceed to Baroda by a direct flight and reach there by late afternoon . A family function and a visit to  The Statue of Unity is in our plans .

I have done extensive research on the itenary and plan to  proceed by road on the 24 th  to Somnath , Dwaraka and back to Baroda by the Midnight of 26 th . 

We take our return flight from Baroda on the 27th and reach Chennai by late evening Via Hyderabad .  I take a Train to be back at Home - Sweet Home on the 1 st of March .


SOMNATH JYOYIRLING , PANCHA PANDAVA CAVE , SURYA MANDIR , GITA MANDIR , VENESHWAR MAHADEV MANDIR , SHRI RAM MANDIR , KAMNATH MANDIR , GOKAK DHAM TEERTH , DWARAKA DEESH TEMPLE ARE ALL LINED UP  .


I have always been fond of GUJARATI Food and am eagerly waiting to lay my hands on ,

DHOKLA , KHAKHRA , FAFDA ,SEV , KHANDVI , KHAMAN , GHEVAR , MALPUA , SHRIKHAND AND PURAN POLI .

Baroda - Unity Statue - 90 Kms 

Baroda - Somnath - 480 kms 

Somnath -Dwaraka - 235 kms 

Dwaraka - Baroda - 520 Kms 

My comfort with HINDI and GUJARATI will be of a big help I am sure . 

I will be covering all these places in an Elaborate way after the visit .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands . VAIKOM VISIT- IN GODS OWN COUNTRY - 686

 VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
