             PRIORITIES 


The BCCI or the Board of Control for Cricket in India has never had it this good in recent times . 

When I say GOOD TIMES , I mean the Money in its coffers and not the Silverware by means of winning an ICC Tournament , the last of which was almost 10 years back .

How an entity like the BCCI which prides itself on being  a Professionally Managed Organisation can be so wrong in marking its priorities is a mystery which begs an answer .

Anyone which includes my 93 year old female neighbor or even someone with even a  passing knowledge of IPL Cricket will endorse the fact that this 40 Over Razzmatazz of 4 Hours  is a Slam - Bang variety of Cricket where being innovative from Ball One and Score as many runs as possible is the name of the game. THIS IS WHAT IT MAKES IT THE RICHEST FRANCHISE GAME AFTER THE EUROPEAN FOTBALL LEAGUE .

Test Cricket on the other hand is a diametrically opposite one where one has to grind for 90 overs a day over 5 days and  Two innings . Staying power for long periods and building partnerships is the ultimate test. 

The Technique and Skills required  for the two formats are as different as Chalk and Cheese .

The BCCI Bigwigs thought it of no consequence to have the Two formats ,  just One Week after each other . This after the 2 Month variety of Slam Bang Cricket has proved to be nothing but Suicidal .

Barring Chiteshwar Pujara , all the others have been performers at the 2 Month IPL Razzmatazz at umpteen locations across the Country .

Shot Selection during the Test  have been more in tune with the T20 Format , how else does one explain Virat Kohli attempting a shot with the Ball pitched wide outside and the off stump and attempting a shot only to  get  a nick . That he was at 49 and a personal milestone is no excuse .

Chiteshwar Pujara getting out was even more pathetic . Trying to glide the ball pitched high over his head and offering a simple catch to the keeper is a shot which Pujara will never like to see on a replay .

Even more Tragic was the way in which the Skipper of the Team Rohit Sharma got out . Attempting a sweep in a  kneeled down position right in front of the middle stump and missing the line all together is like committing Harakiri and being  declared LBW .

 Barring Shubhman Gill all the others are on the wrong side of the Thirtees and well past their prime . The last nail on the coffin was leaving out the ICC Ranked Number one Bowler Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing 11 . Selection of a 4 headed pace attack defies logic . Umesh Yadav with an  average  strike rate as a bowler should have made way for Ashwin who is no bunny with the bat either  and has 5 Test Centuries under his belt .

Rohit and Rahul have some explaining to do .

It might be some consolation that we lost by a margin of a massive  209 runs and not by something even more embarrassing .

THE WHOLE SET UP NEEDS A 

    RELOOK AND A CHANGE

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
