NOVEL METHODS OF
TEACHING
Our Parents and especially our Teachers had novel and unique ways of teaching the subjects or Languages during our early school days .
I distinctly remember the difficulty i had in memorizing the spelling of the word ,
" ASSASSINATION "
My English Teacher at The Sector 7 SCHOOL in Bhilai was one Dr Bakshi . For some reason his ways with the students was always special . A bachelor of sorts and a man who was well past his middle age , he always seemed to sprout a frown on his face . Even the ever charming and elegantly clad Jarieth Madam , our Junior School English Teacher , who drew the attention of all the other Teachers , Male or Female and which included the Students , seemed to have no sway over our Dr Bakshi . It was often rumored that the only time that there was a slight twitch on his lips was when the huge Great Dane Dog that he had in his house was at its worst and Growling at an unsuspecting and uninvited guest . This seemed a favorite Passtime for both the Master and his not so very lovely pet .
This six foot something of a man always carried a three foot cane in his hand . I and many of my classmates distinctly remember being at the wrong end of his cane on quite a few occasions .
Now , coming to the point , his failure to make me spell the word ASSASSINATION correctly inspite and despite all his repeated efforts with the cane or otherwise , had him marching me into our Headmaster Mr Prasad's office .
A word or two about Mr Prasad , he was a portly man but with a very kind heart . Being a Bengali , he always prided himself on his intellectual ability and wasted no time or effort to exhibit the same at the drop of a hat . He had a novel way of making the students learn the basics . His solution to the problem on hand was unique and awesome .
Divide ASSASSINATION into four parts , ASS , ASS , I AND NATION and remember ,
FIRST ONE ASS , FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER ASS FOLLOWED BY YOU AND THE NATION BEHIND YOU .
I still have difficulty in spelling the word correctly , not sure if there is a C in there somewhere .
I would like to add that it is purely coincidental and unintended that this narrative , kind of resonates with the
(ONE ASS FOLLOWING ANOTHER ASS ———)
KANYAKUMARI TO KASHMIR BHARAT JODO MARCH WHÌCH WAS UNDERWAY AND IN THE NEWS SOMETIME BACK BY ONE GENTLEMAN FROM AN ELITE FAMILY OFTEN REFERRED TO AS PAPPU
One Ass following another Ass with me and the whole Nation looking on does send a wrong Message .
Wow, wonderful way of making the children learn a spelling and remember it for a life time. The comparison made is awesome 😎
