 SENIOR CITIZEN s DAY TODAY 

Two very contrasting and unrelated events over the last two days holds a very special place with me .

Yesterday the 20 th of August was my Birthday. Getting on to being  73 years is definitely a Milestone .

Being quite healthy with the Almighty's Bleesings is a sure boon . More often than not , with advancing age  health issues do crop up from time to time to  become a Millstone not only around your  neck not but also around the neck of your near and dear ones . 

Though retired from what one would like to call as Productive  Service  , I am quite an active person always on the look out to dabble with anything new and interesting . The Covid 19 Days under lockdown did offer that much more space and time to  persue those interests .

In these days of instant and easy access to the Social Media platforms like the WHATSAPP , E MAIL AND FACEBOOK , I have been flooded with 100 s of BEST WISHES from Friends , Relatives and former Workplace Acquaintances . It does  feel nice to note that there is something in me which seems to have caught their fancy especially the younger ones . I have never been averse to join them in a game of Cricket , Football or even Table Tennis . 

Growing old also see a Sea Change even between you and your  very close friends . What was Waada , Posada , saale ,  matchaan , mappla slowly Passes on to become Brother , Graduates to Sri and finally becomes Mister and Ji . Nothing can announce your SENIOR CITIZENSHIP louder .


Barely 24 hours later , the same Social Media Platforms on 21 st August wished everyone on the SENIOR CITIZENS DAY . Now , I do wish that there is a clarity on what constitutes the age of a Senior Citizen .

Most States in India  go by the age of 60 , Maharashtra goes by 65 and some Advanced Western Countries go  by 70 years for one to be eligible for the Senior Citizens Benifits  .

I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN BY ALL THE ABOVE MEASURING PARAMETERS 

                           

Nonetheless , I would love to have the best of both the Worlds . I would like to consider myself as GROWING OLD AND NOT BEING AGED/OLD .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands . VAIKOM VISIT- IN GODS OWN COUNTRY - 686

 VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
