2023 First Snowfall - 656

     FIRST SNOWFALL OF 2023 

Google Akka's Forecast of the looming Snowfall from the night  of Monday 23 rd Oct 2023 with Temperatures ranging from a High of -2°C to a low of -10°C had Me and Mami rushing to get hold of our Winter Clothing.  

It would be only fair to admit here that though we have been to Canada on 9 previous occasions,  this is only the second time that we are  at Regina during the onset of the Winter . Our previous experience of extreme winter at Regina was exactly 10 years back in 2013 when my Grandson Arya was born . I distinctly remember that the Temperature on that day was Minus  37°c . 

In Toronto where my Son stays , the Winter starts a bit later and comparatively speaking , at a much subdued level .

Make no mistake about it . For a person hailing from the South of India , Winter is an almost unheard of weather condition  and SNOW  is seen only in the Tamil or Hindi Movies with the Hero and Heroine Gallivanting and chasing each other on the slopes of Kashmir , Switzerland or the Alps .

The whole place is a sheet of WHITE as far as the eyes can see.  One does not experience the severity of the prevailing conditions outside the house   because of the Perfectly well Installed Heating Systems inside your homes  . One can regulate the Temperature of the inside of your house exactly to your own comfort level .

You begin to feel the change , the moment you open the door even slightly and  walk to the Garage to get into your Car . Those few seconds are enough to send the shivers all across your body . The Car also being Heated , you travel in relative comfort . 

 The protective clothing that one needs to put on while venturing out of the house is very elaborate and TIME definitely has to be set aside for the same .

Both Kamesh and Anoo leave by Car around 7. 30  AM while Aarna my Granddaughter has to walk atleast 100 Mts to catch her School Bus while my Grandson Arya  a couple of meters to catch his School Van .

 The very thought of walking on the slippery Snow with the Breeze swishing bye is something that they seem to have gotten used to . The sight of everyone going about their daily routine absolutely unmindful of the prevailing Weather conditions is both surprising but comforting at the same time  .

WE TOO, Mami and Myself  WILL PROBABLY  HAVE TO LEARN TO TAKE IT IN OUR STRIDE AND GET USED TO IT .
