 AYODHYA YAATRA DAY -2

THE DAY STARTS REALLY EARLY IN THESE PARTS . IT WAS HARDLY 4.30 IN THE MORNING AND SUNLIGHT WAS ALREADY STREAMING IN THROUGH THE WINDOWS .



KNOCK ON THE DOOR AND BEING OFFERED TEA AT 6 .00 AM SET US ALL UP FOR THE DAY .

AFTER A HEAVY BREAKFAST , WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO THE SARAYU RIVER FOR A HOLY BATH . SARAYU RIVER BESIDES BEING THE RAMJANMA BHOOMI, FINDS MENTION IN THE RAMAYAN AT MANY PLACES . MORE RECENTLY IT FOUND MENTION IN THE GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS AS ONE LAKH DIYAA OR LAMPS WERE LIGHTED ON ITS BANKS DURING THE LAST RAMNAVAMI FESTIVAL / DEEPAVALI FESTIVAL. 


THE LATA MANGESHKAR VEENA ENROUTE WAS THE IDEAL PLACE FOR THE GROUP PHOTO OP OF THE 70 PLUS YATREES TAKING PART IN THE SUNDER TRAVELS .




HOLY BATH AND GOW POOJA            ( PASU ) DONE WE WERE AT THE RAM DARBAR WHERE SHRI RAM GOT HIS PATTABHISHEKAM AND ASCENDED THE THRONE OF RAM RAJYA . 

SITA KITCHEN AND THE WELL USED BY SITA MAI HAS BEEN PRESERVED . HANUMAN TEMPLE VISIT FOLLOWED AND WE WERE BACK AT THE RESORT FOR OUR DEPARTURE TO PRAYAGRAJ AFTER LUNCH .





NO WORDS COULD BE ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE THE SOUTH INDIAN LUNCH PROVIDED . SIMPLY PUT IT WAS JUST EXCELLENT  .

IT IS A NEAR 5 HOUR JOURNEY FROM AYODHYA TO PRAYAGRAJ.WE STARTED AT AROUND 1.30 PM . AT AROUND 4.00 PM WE STOPPED AT A PLACE FOR YOU KNOW WHAT AND A HOT CUP OF CHAAYA AND PIPING HOT SOMOSA . IT WAS A PLEASANT SURPRISE TO SEE THE PRODUCT DISPLAY IN TAMIL AT A NONE TOO FAMOUS PLACE IN INTERIOR UTTAR PRADESH . THIS IS SO MUCH UNLIKE OUR FRATERNITY WHO TEND TO BLACKEN ANYTHING IN HINDI . 





THE NEXT HOUR OR SO WAS ABSOLUTE BLISS . TODAY HAPPENED TO BE THE MAHA SANI PRADOSHAM AND A REQUEST  WAS RAISED FOR THE RECITATION OF SIVA PURANAM WHAT INITIALLY STARTED AS A SOLO PERFORMANCE GRADUATED TO GROUP CHORUS SINGING WITH MORE AND MORE PEOPLE JOINING IN .

The public address system thanks to Ashok was a great Boon in making this happen . 



WE REACHED HOTEL MILAN AT PRAYAGRAJ AFTER A SMALL TRAFFIC SNARL INSIDE PRAYAGRAJ AT 7.OO PM AS SCHEDULED. 

DINNER DONE WE HAVE TRIVENI SANGAMAM MARKED FOR THE MORROW  .

SO UNTILL THEN ,

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ashok seemed to have his way with the Indigo Airways . Group Check in saved us a lot of time . Lunch packet Distribution done we were on our way and were before time at Lucknow .  Lucknow was a lot different from what I had imagined , airport was spotlessly clean as was their baggage handling services .  Mr Ashok saw to it that we were off on a Bus to Ayodhya in a flash . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands . The Sastrigal performed the Ritual which is an almost second time Marriage where vows are taken to lead a life in all happiness and begging forgiveness for the sins committed thus far .        ,       RAM JAN

 VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning . Nothing could be better ,  We made the Reservations for both the Up  and Down Jorneys on the 11 th and 13 th June with our  return slated from Ernakulam Town as we planned to visit the Chottanikara Bhaghavati Amman Temple on the 13 th mornin
