The Best Coffee Shreemati Ever Had

It was already late by the time they got to the Egmore station . The big clock on Platform No 1 showed the time as 3.50 . They were to catch the 20605 Chennai Egmore/Tiruchendur Express on their way to Kumbakonam to spend time with their Daughter as there was a long weekend ahead. The Scheduled Departure time was 16.00 Hours .
Shree and Shreemati's departure from their Home at Vadapalani itself had started on a wrong note. She wanted to travel by Cab , while he insisted on using the Metro as it would be a faster mode and cost much less .
They soon found their coach and settled in their seats .No sooner had they done this,Shreemati pointed to the Book Stall opposite their window and asked Shree to get her some books to read during their travel . Shree hardly had any option .Only a few minutes remained , he rushed to the stall , bought the books and huffed and puffed his way back into his seat . Shreemati however did not forget to remark that they would have had more time at their disposal , had they chosen as suggested by her to come by cab to the station .The Co passengers slowly began warming up to their company and the free serial on display in their bay . Shreemati was engrossed in her books and Shree was busy watching the IPL Match beween CSK and SRH and on his Mobile . They were barely 2 hours into their journey when a coffee vendor came along the aisle . Shreemati wanted some coffee saying that her throat was almost starched after their two hours of travel. Shree reminded her of the very bad taste and the cold coffee during their last visit and said that Dindivanam was fast approaching and that he would get her the coffee there . For once Shreemati agreed to what Shree had to say .
Soon they were at Dindivanam and sure enough coffee Vendors were doing brisk business but away from their compartment . After sometime a middle aged vendor came and handed over 2 cups of coffee and on enquiry told Shree that it would cost them Rs 20 . Shree got his wallet out only to find that he had only Rs 200 currency notes with him . He gave one mote to the vendor who began rummaging in to all his pockets to find the change . By then the train whistled and started moving . Poor vendor tried to keep pace with the train and finally lost out . The train gained speed and chugged away .
Shree reconciled himself to the situation . Shreemati did not utter a word and kept a very grim face . To diffuse the situation and break the ice , Shree asked his wife if the coffee was good and strong enough as she usually liked her coffee that way . That was what Shreemati was waiting for . She remarked that it was not worth the Rs200 that Shree had paid for . Here she was , saddled with a man who is not capable of buying even a cup of coffee for his wife . How he came to occupy such a high position in his office was a mystery which needed a lot of looking into . It seemed quite Probable that others in the office were even worse than him .

She was quick to point out that it was only because of her skills in managing the affairs of the house that they could get their daughter Bhuvana married without a hassle . She seemed totally oblivious to the fact that all the co passengers in her bay and those from the neighboring bays were having a field day and enjoying the free entertainment on offer .

All they could do was feel sorry for Mr Shree . One hour of free entertainment later , the train entered Villupuram . A boy in his early teens came to the aisle and enquired as to who was the person who had bought 2 cups of coffee and paid Rs 200 for the same at Dindivanam. Shree told him that he was that person . The boy quickly handed him Rs 180 and told him that he was studying in a school here and made daily visits from Dindivanam as it was a reputed school . His father had called him on his mobile and given him the coach number details and asked him to hand over the School fees amount to the passenger and that he could pay the school fees the next day .
All the passengers were dumbstruck by the boy's action . Shree immediately talked to his father and thanked him for his gesture and bringing up the young boy in the right way . The boy could have easily said that he had paid the money and used the Rs 180 as a pocket Money .
This is where the turning point of the story comes . Shreemati grabbed the money from Shree's hand and fondly ran her fingers on the lads head and shoved the money in his pocket saying , thambi , you are going to be a great man . Great son of a great father . Keep the money , buy whatever book you want and study well . God will be with you . Our Blessings .
I HAVE HAD THE BEST COFFEE OF MY LIFE THUS FAR
