This Day - 34 Years Back -

                     TAKING CARE OF US 








22 nd April is one more Landmark Day for us 


It has been 34  years since you embraced us in your fold and made us very much a part of you - Maruthi .

I guess the one item closest to a person's heart after your Family is your HOUSE . 

The name Maruthi was always a favourite with my parents and it gives me an immense sense of fulfillment for naming our HOME  as Maruthi .

The pleasure is even more when I recollect the many many hours that  I spent in the scorching sun and the pouring rain while   overseeing  Maruthi being built brick by brick and the financial and physical hardships that we  have had to face to make that happen .

The Grahapravesam on 22nd April 1992 is still fresh in my mind . 

This ,  in  a place which was originally a Cricket Ground where I have  played many a match in the Inter Unit and District level Cricket Tournaments makes the memories even sweeter particularly because the place where my house now stands was the Grandstand then .

My Daughter and Son too have fond memories of Maruthi as this is the place which as a launch pad went on to make them successful professionals in their field in far off places .

        IT IS BY FAR THE CHEAPEST HERE  AS ALL YOU FRIENDS MAY BE AWARE , BY A GOOD FORTUNE OF THE GRACE OF THE  GOOD LORD ABOVE  , I HAVE TRAVELLED FAR AND WIDE ACROSS THE GLOBE AND HAVE ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRAVEL BY TRAIN IN MANY OF THESE COUNTRIES . SITTING HERE IN CANADA I CAME ACROSS A BOARD WHICH WAS POSTED IN ANOTHER GROUP WHICH SHOWED THE PASSENGER TRAIN FARE DETAILS EX AMBAS TO VARIOUS PLACES .  Here i am , a Retired Person nearing the three quarters of the Century Mark  , musing about the many  childhood dreams . There are many things which have caught my fancy as a schoolgoing kid and later on in the teens. It is only fair to say that Some of those Important  Dreams , thanks to the lord above have been realized and and sadly there are parts of the same that  are never going to see the light of the day . The early part of my teens was at a place called Kharapur in W Bengal .Now, dont get me wrong , it was not at the IIT for which the place is  obviously more famous for the World over , but the Railway Colony of which my Father was very much a part.
