AGASTHIARPATTY  MAN AND SNOWFALL It is rare for a person from South Asia and more so for a person from  almost the very tip of  South India    to have had a first hand encounter with A SNOWFALL . For most , barring a few occasions the min temp most might have had to  face would have been in the 15 Degrees Range . I was in Toronto on the 11 th of Nov 2019 and on this day there was a snowfall of a record 14 Cms which was the highest recorded for the past 10 years at that time . The view all around was a sheet of white,  so much so that our flight back to India the very next day  got delayed by 3 hours because of the same .   Something surely rare  for ; OUR  MAN FROM AGASTHIARPATTY

         MY MEMORIES OF MIDNAPORE                                               ( MEDINIPUR ) Medinipur is very much in the news now because of Home Minister Amit Shah Ji visit to this place as a Launchpad for the 2021  Bengal Assembly Elections . As i had mentioned in my earlier Blogs , My schooling was at Kharagpur and Medinipur which was then called as Midnapore was the District Headquarters of Kharagpur . The coverage of Amit Shah Ji s visit to this place and the elaborate arrangements for the same  has revived memories of my own many visits to this place .        ,,,,,  PASSPORT RENEWAL EXPERIENCE  Getting the very first Passport and its renewal after every 10 th year has never been a pleasant experience thus far .  The 4th time experience of my interaction with the Passport office earlier this week has been totally different from those of the earlier ones . I think I would need to elaborate a bit more so that a clearer picture can be got . Getting my First Passport in April 1990 from The Regional Passport Office at Tiruchy was sans any excitement except the wait of almost 6 months that it took for the Passport to be delivered . JABERLAL my good Coats friend at VK Puram took care of all the rest . THE HAND WRITTEN PASSPORT WAS A PRIZED POSSESSION.  First renewal of the Passport at the  Regional Passport Office Tiruchi in March 2001 was one hell of an experience . HOW GOOD ARE MY EARS   I AM YOUR EARS  WE ARE TWO IN NUMBER AND ARE TWINS Sadly our fate is such that , WE HAVE NEVER SEEN EACH OTHER AT ANYTIME DURING OUR LIVES  I do not  know as to what has led us to this sorry  state . More importantly  our bad fate does not end here , infact it  just happens to be the beginning . WE THE - EARS - ARE ENDOWED WITH THE ABILITY TO  ONLY LISTEN , BE  IT ALL THE ABUSES OR  A FEW ENCOURAGING WORDS WHICH  COME OUR WAY NOW AND THEN . AS WE AGE , WE ARE MADE TO CARRY THE WEIGHT OF THE SPECTACLES AROUND OUR EARS . THE SPECTACLES ARE FOR THE EYES WHICH IMPROVES A PERSONS  EYESIGHT , WHY DO I NEED TO CARRY THE EXTRA WEIGHT OF THE SPECTACLES AROUND MY EARS ALL THROUGH MY LIFE TIME . I CANNOT SEE BUT I CAN SURELY HEAR EVRYTHING THAT GOES ON IN FRONT OF ME OR EVEN  BEHIND MY BACK . WHY DO PEOPLE WHO ARE LOUD MOUTHED ALWAYS GET TO HAVE  THE LAST LAUGH IN ANY ARGUMENT.  DURING SCHOOLDAYS...

           MAHADEVA ASHTAMI 2020  The Mahadeva Ashtami this year was on the 8  th of Dec 2020 . This was Celebrated at the VK PURAM SAMAJAM in a somewhat subdued manner because of the fears of Covid - 19 . For the uninformed ,  this is the day when the VAIKKOM MAHADEVA TEMPLE Observes the event in a grand manner and a sumptuous lunch is partaken as the Prasadam from Lord Shiva to his Devotees . On similar lines after the Abhishekam and Poojai at Sivanthiappar Temple the sumptuous lunch was served at the Newly Renovated Samajam at VK Puram . This is an occasion when members of the Samajam make it a point to gather and be a part of the function . Former Employees of MADURA COATS who form a sizeable chunk of the members use this opportunity to meet and exchange notes. Many send in their contributions if they are not able to make a personal presence.  HOPE THIS TRADITION CONTINUE IN YEARS AHEAD .
