NEED FOR REMOVING THE BLINKERS    FROM  THE EYES AND MIND

There was this recent lament from a couple of my friends from other WhatsApp groups which came down heavily on the Government of the day for slashing the Interest rates on their Savings and Fixed Deposits . This was said to have  purportedly made their Retired Life very gloomy and difficult.

I do not for one moment dispute this fact as I also sail along on this same boat .

A retired person is normally one  in his 60 s who has called it a day from normal work and is left to live with the savings , pension and sometimes the monetary support from his offsprings to bide time for the final call in his or her sunset years . The last said item for obvious reasons is only sought as a last resort.

What made their statement sound hollow was the combination of the Two factors detailed below .

This is hardly the time to take a call against the Government.  The Covid -19 , lockdown , social distancing have wrought a havoc on everything that we have  so far taken as granted . The so called Advanced Economies of the world have no clue as to how to handle the situation . Those affected and fatalities in these countries are in staggering numbers and is getting gloomier by the day .

Our Governments,  both at the State and Central levels are doing all that they can to prevent the situation from getting totally out of hand . Public help is being sought to tide over the situation  .

Nearly 30 % of the population do neither know as to where his next lunch or dinner is going to come from , nor of any work being guaranteed anytime soon and with  hardly any money in their pockets they are starring into total uncertainty ahead . With no mode of transport available to head back to their respective villages , each passing day must surely seem like a year of no hope .

The second factor is that both of my worthy friends that I mentioned in the opening passage are well in to their  sixties and surprise of surprises are not Retirees in the true sense of the word as they are still gainfully employed . If they have difficulty in making both ends meet , it suggests only two things .

They have not made smart investments during their younger years .

                                OR

They have been living far beyond their means .

Both the above statements do not apply to my dear friends as they have considerable returns from their Agricultural lands and the rentals of the apartments which they have let out .

So , where does this leave us , 

Gentlemen , some of us seem to be suffering from a deep sense of Negative Emotions calling all the shots . How else does one ignore the many positive points that were also announced along with the cut in Interest Rates  . Sharp cut in the EMI s for Home , Car and other loans . Many other SOP s to lessen the hardships of the common man on the street has also been purposely left unnoticed .

Let us help ourselves and the Government of the day to get over this mammoth challenge that all of us face .

 Afterall we have only one life to live and we have to be alive first to lament  the fall in Interest Rates  that my Dear Friends seem to worry about so much  .

REMOVE THE BLINKERS , BE POSITIVE FOR YOUR AND EVERYONE S GOOD
