HAVE I BEEN UTOPIAN IN OPTING FOR NULL CARD - 330

                       NULL RATION CARD 

There are some decisions that you take which go on to haunt you in later years . I had opted for the NULL RATION CARD OF THE TNPED way back in the early 80 s itself . I firmly believed that I had been endowed with a decent paying job for self and better half and that there were far too many unfortunate ones who come under the heading BELOW POVERTY LEVEL , who find it extremely hard to find 2 Square Meals a day for their family . By opting for a NULL card I sincerely believed that I would be helping some less fortunate BPL member in my own small way .

On a very conservative estimate , the four members of my family Ration Card would have saved the Government atleast Rs 1500 /- as subsidy per year  which would amount to a staggering  Rs 60000/ - for the last 40 years , plus the various FREEBIES not eligible to me  due to my NULL RATION  CARD 

ANNUAL PONGAL INAM , DIWALI GIFT , FREE TELEVISION , FREE FAN , FREE MIXIE , FREE GRINDER , COVID CASH PAYMENTS UNDER BOTH GOVERNMENTS 

I reckon , I would have saved the Government atleast Rs 150000/- thus far . 

The token distribution to the recipients of the  Cash of Rs 2000 /- made very sad viewing on various news channels . The Ladies were fully decked in Gold and the Gents in smart clothing and with Premium Wrist watches. The children accompanying them looked hardly in need of any benefits from anyone .

What made the matters even worse was the sight of eligible card holders alighting from their cars at Agasthiarpatty to collect the first installment of Rs 2000 /- .

Not very far from this very spot was the destitute , 

His home was under the  tree near the Tea Shop where he slept everday and spent the time begging for as long as I can remember .

SAD BUT TRUE , NO BENIFIT OF ANY SORT FOR THIS UNFORTUNATE SOUL .

The pertinent question though is , 

WAS IT RIGHT ON MY PART TO OPT FOR THE 

                   NULL RATION CARD  ???
