This Siva Temple is some 40 Kms from Tirunelveli . Closer home it is around 15 Kms from Ambasamudram or Agasthiarpatty. It is situated  on the Banks of the Gadana River and is  Surrounded by lush green Paddy and Coconut groves  . One tends to get a heavenly feel as the cool breeze during the Courtallam Season from Late June to Late September makes way wafting  over your ears . Apart from the regular locals, it is a place of special attraction to the COURTALLAM/PAPANASAM  set of WATERFALLS enthusiasts which even includes visitors from neighboring Kerala which is only a short distance away .






 Being on the foothills of the Western Ghats ,  this Temple has several Unique Features .

It is one among the few Siva Temples that face towards the West .

The Swayamboo Lingam has a feel of plaited hair at the back.  The Diety also goes by the name of Sadayar  .

The Consort Paramakalyani is everyone's Diety,  Paramakalyani College is one of the renowned Colleges in the area and caters as the Center for higher education for many around the area .

Simpson Group's Shri  Anantharamakrishnan who hailed from this place has many Institutions and Social Welfare Schemes named after him in and  around this area .

The Temple is famous for its  Tiruodu tree . The Tiruodu leaves are a special attraction because of its many edged geometrical shape which is almost unique .

One particular tree attracts special attention as it has 5 different varieties of trees entwined , one  over the other.
ARASA , VEPPA , AALA , TIRUODU AND VENGA 
entwined over each other is ONE huge tree which form a very  large canopy . My guess is that the Diameter of the main trunk of the tree at its widest place could be anywhere in  the region of 4 to 5 MTS . 

A  MUST VISIT PLACE FOR THE LOCALS . DO SAVOR THE DELIGHTS OF THIS CLOSE AND  HEAVENLY PLACE .

         SURPRISE PACKAGE      VISIT TO NEW VRINDABAN  Our plan was to head for our home in Ajax after Breakfast as it was almost an Eight hour drive back home with  a number of Pitstops in between .   Sathya and Vandana gave us ( Revathy and Myself ) a pleasant Surprise by informing us that we were heading for NEW VRINDABAN instead  in the neighboring State of WEST VIRGINIA  . New VRINDABAN is the US Headquarters of the Popular  HARE KRISHNA OR ISKON Community in the US and the final resting place of their founder or PRABHUPADA . NAVARATHRI GOLU 2025 - AJAX - 795

                    NAVARATHRI 2025   --  AJAX  We are at my Son and Daughter In Law’s place at Ajax in Canada this year for the Navarathri Festival . It is  a festival which has the Ladies garnering all the limelight during the Nine Day Festival with THE GOLU as the highlight . The men in the house have to get down the Cartons from the attic with the neatly packed idols of last year stored there with utmost care . Cleaning and dusting the same takes some doing . Getting the 5 or 7 Deck GOLU PADI is a big task in itself . Haarish , my son is good with his hands which includes the Carpentry work also .
