Our Wait for Gold Has Ended - 389

        OUR LONG WAIT FOR GOLD HAS ENDED

This post is almost a continuation of my previous post where I had sounded very positive about our performance at Tokyo Olympics 

 

I am  glad that it has turned out to be even better than what I had expected .The games started with a flourish from the start from the  early   morning itself ,  Aditi Ashok  missed a Medal by just a whisker , missing the Birdie infact by the proverbial few inches 

 The afternoon Bronze Medal bout in Wrestling was won by Bajrang Punia who was aggressive from the very start ,  where  he  pinned down his opponent onthe back repeatedly .

The evening had the Javelin Throw as almost the last event for the day  where our Neeraj Chopra a 23 year Subedar from the Indian Army threw the Javelin to a distance of 87.58 Mts . He seemed  to have a clear strategy in mind from the very start  . His throw was the 2nd among the 12 contestants. He had clearly earmarked his first throw to be the best and this put a tremendous pressure on the others . He seemed so confident of his throw that he never even bothered to look back to see where the Javelin finally landed . Eventually he won by a comfortable margin from the Silver and Bronze Medal Winners . India emerged with its largest number of medals in an Olympics. 

By winning the Gold Medal at the Olympics, he became the Very First Indian to Win an  Individual Gold Medal in a Track & Field event at an Olympic Event .  Coming as this does some 120 odd years since the start of the Olympic Movement , this  has set the whole nation in a frenzy of Celebrations.  The whole Nation seemed to be glued to their Television Sets . This at a time when a Cricket Test Match between India and England was in Progress at Nottingham was a bigger surprise . The Indian National Anthem  being finally played at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 is sure to ensure many youngsters  taking up sports in a big way . This is sure to be a new dawn in how parents and youngsters look to sports as a lucrative and prestigious occupation .

All the participants of Tokyo Olympics have done the whole Nation Proud . Thank you very much . We are all waiting to welcome you back home . You have scripted HISTORY in Golden Letters .
