 TRAIN JOURNEY WHEN YOU WERE  STILL A KID 

One of the most fascinating experiences as one grew up , will undoubtedly be the Train Journey that you as a kid made in the company of your parents  . 
As for myself , with my father being in the Railways and working for a large part of his career at Kharagpur in W Bengal ,  meant  frequent and long travels to be with our relatives during my school vacations .

Being pretty late born to my parents ,  my sister and brother were more like  a guardian to me during  my growing up years  . Save for the odd occasions when my Niece or Nephew came in to the picture , i had a free run with the prized seat by the window in a train or the lions share of anything edible that made their way during the long Journey . 
Most of my maternal side uncles were at Bombay and the Paternal side down South in and around Ravanasamudram near Tirunelveli .

With 6 First Classes passes to which my father was entitled , frequent 2 Nights travel by train from Kharagpur to these far off places was a regular  affair . The half Yearly Vacation at Mumbai , and the Annual Vacation down South was the routine  but they often changed places depending upon the Cousin's Marriage on either side .

I chanced upon a few pictures in WhatsApp which carries the sum and essence of these unforgettable train journeys and I thought it only fit to share the same . Please do spend a few seconds in each of these pictures , they are sure to make you feel a few decades younger if not more .

    Nice. My dad was also in the railways and we too enjoyed the same trips to many places in India. Tirunelveli got the lions share of our visits

US VISIT 3 - SURPRISE PACKAGE - 777

         SURPRISE PACKAGE      VISIT TO NEW VRINDABAN  Our plan was to head for our home in Ajax after Breakfast as it was almost an Eight hour drive back home with  a number of Pitstops in between .   Sathya and Vandana gave us ( Revathy and Myself ) a pleasant Surprise by informing us that we were heading for NEW VRINDABAN instead  in the neighboring State of WEST VIRGINIA  . New VRINDABAN is the US Headquarters of the Popular  HARE KRISHNA OR ISKON Community in the US and the final resting place of their founder or PRABHUPADA . The Krishna Temple ; Palace of Gold ; Rose Garden ; Goshala ; Peacock Mount is very Scenic ; People from all over the World Visit this place in large numbers and stay here for a few days for enchantment and to be with  MOTHER NATURE at its very Best .  The travel time involved was just 60 Minutes of Extra Time from our place of stay but the last 20 Minutes of travel involved coveri...

NAVARATHRI GOLU 2025 - AJAX - 795

                    NAVARATHRI 2025   --  AJAX  We are at my Son and Daughter In Law’s place at Ajax in Canada this year for the Navarathri Festival . It is  a festival which has the Ladies garnering all the limelight during the Nine Day Festival with THE GOLU as the highlight . The men in the house have to get down the Cartons from the attic with the neatly packed idols of last year stored there with utmost care . Cleaning and dusting the same takes some doing . Getting the 5 or 7 Deck GOLU PADI is a big task in itself . Haarish , my son is good with his hands which includes the Carpentry work also .
