Toronto Regina CANADA


With both my daughter
and son having decided to  make Canada their home at Regina and Toronto , i have made a number of visits to be with them for durations ranging from three to six months almost every year now . Relatives and friends back home keep asking me about the general lifestyle , how i manage to spend my time and many other such questions about Canada and Toronto and Regina in particular.
So here i go ,
First and foremost spending time with your grand children in the company of your own children is a godsend and no words can describe it .
Now to Toronto , by all accounts it is the 4 th largest city in North America after New York , LA , and Chicago .Everything about it is awesome. The infrastructure is simply out of the world . Cleanliness , Roads , Public Bus Transport , Metro Rail Service , Free Medical Services , Free Schools for the children that too , close to their place of stay is to be seen to be believed. Some of our 3 or more star Hotels would be put to shame for the sheer attention to detail and general upkeep of the facilities. 
Migrants constitute a major chunk of the population . You name a country and it would be difficult to not find a person from that country in the neighborhood.
As with everywhere else , the Chineese and Indians form a large  part of this chunk.
There are any number of Hindu Temples in Toronto and it would be hard to single out each one simply because of the sheer numbers involved .All the temples are well maintained , sadly much better than what we find back home. Restaurants serving North or South Indian delicacies are dime a dozen.
The traffic on the road is orderly and rules are there to be followed.
The use of horn is extremely rare . In fact you are looked down if you happen to use the horn and need to expain as to why used the horn in the first place to the aggrieved person .You will hardly find any car with a dent or scar.
CN Towers , Ripleys Aquarium , Central Island and the awe inspiring NIAGARA Falls , just to name a few are a must for any visitor here .

The days of the Appas , Ammas , Mamaas , Maamies and Friends carrying appalam , murukku , rasa podi , molaga podi or thousand other such articles to their loved ones are long gone . There are any number of Indian Departmental stores catering to these needs and mind you with a much better quality of the products .

Regina has everything similar but on  a much smaller scale . It would be like comparing Ambas with Chennai .

On the flip side , cost of living is high . I may be wrong on the lower side but one would have to earn atleast 4 times their corresponding  salary in India to maintain the same standard of living.

Weather is definitely a deterrent as from early November to Late March it is freezing cold and the temperature is mostly at the minus level , touching minus 20 quite often .

So , if you are brave and strong enough to brave the same , then Canada is the place for you.
