PURI JAGANNATH , KONARAK AND BHUVANESHWAR REVISITED 19











Rlght from my early school days , i have had a fascination for Puri Jagannath and Konarak Sun Temples . A part of this could be because of the fact that my father was in the Railway Service at Khurda Road Junction which is quite close to Bhuvaneshwar , Puri and Konarak .
To relive the feel of these temples , self and my better half visited these sites some 50 years after my last visit during March 2017 .
We took the direct train from Tirunelveli to Bhuvaneshwar for the train proceeding to Kolkata and had booked the room for our stay at the Railway Retiring Room at Bhuvaneshwar station itself . The entire station was kept spotlessly clean as the then Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu was visiting the station .

Unlike our Tamilnadu , not much seem to have changed especially  in the temple premises .
Tribhuvaneshwar Temple after which the place  derives its name , Lingaraj Temple , Mukteshwar Temple , Brahmeshwar Temple and Rajarani Temple brought back memories of my early childhood .

We too a cab to visit the Puri Jagannath and Sun Temple at Konarak . The former was devine and the many delicacies given to us as prasadam is still fresh in my mind .
The Sun Temple at Konarak is an architectural masterpiece especially the Kala Chakra of the Chariot .
God willing , i would not mind visiting the place once again .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
