FOND MEMORIES OF DAYS GONE LONG BYE - 171

                 MEMORIES OF YOUNGER                                                       DAYS

The events of the past few days  has seen the passing away of a number of stalwarts in their respective fields . Let me not pretend , the fact that I myself have entered the 70 s club does add on to the tug , as these souls whom i have always adored are no more amongst us .

My entire schooling has been in the then Calcutta , Kharagpur and a part in Bhilai.
All these places had a special liking for Football as a sport . This  against Cricket which was the undisputed sport followed by the rest of the country .

Railways have always been a favorite recruiting ground for sportsmen . My father was a SENIOR Official in the then South Eastern Railways  ( BNR or Bengal Nagpur Railways  ). I have often travelled along with the BNR team in the bus for the Calcutta League and IFA Shield Matches.
I have watched many matches between BNR and East Bengal , Mohan Bagan , Aryans , Kidderpore Sports Club and the
Eastern Railways and have watched in awe
the sheer magic in the footwork of PK Banerjee , Chuni Goswami , Balaram , Arun Ghosh and Mewalal weave their magic in many a football match .
Sad indeed that both PKB and CG have left for their heavenly abode . A part of my childhood has withered away .

My college studies was at the then Bombay. As with many of my friends I was a big movie buff myself and the First Day , First Show of any newly released movie was always  a special attraction .

Year 1973 and the movie BOBBY was released with all the Hype which only Raj Kapoor could muster . Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor were household names even before the release of the movie . I had by  now started working in a Textile Mill . Couple of friends and myself bought the tickets in the Black and saw the movie at a newly opened theatre in Kurla  . I remember seeing the movie at least 3 or 4 times after that . Rishi Kapoor has also passed away yesterday . Pleasant memories of happy hours  passed in his company in a darkened room are lost memories  .

I have not seen Irfan Khan movie in a Theater but have watched many of his movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime . An
amazing and  talented actor who seems to have passed away much before his time .

Really Miss Them . OM SHANTI .
