                 IS ANYONE LISTENING ?

An off hand remark by a friend who admitted to being a Smoker for almost 45 years now and the relief of getting out of the Vice now  not only for  himself but his entire family . That he was a Very heavy Smoker in the range of 20 Cigarettes a day is a case in point .

Being from a rich GUJARATI family , money was never an issue . His brand was the Imported DUNHILL variety.  By his own admission it was costing him  close to Rs 3000 per month for almost  the 45 years under its grip .

This set me thinking , what would  the amount be if he had invested in a totally non speculative enterprise like the LIFE INSURANCE CORPORATION OF INDIA  . A little dwelling into their Website , interestingly gave the following details.  An ANNUAL  investment of  of Rs 2000 for a 15 year Life Endowment Policy gave a return of Rs 42000 on maturity . 

If my Gujju friend had invested the same Rs 3000 x 12 = Rs 36000 anually which is 18 times what i pointed out earlier works to Rs 42000 x 18 which works out to Rs 756000  for 15 years , this very figure when calculated for 45 Yrs is 

Rs 7, 56000 x 3 = Rs 22 , 68000 or Twenty Two Lakh and Sixty Eight Thousand with the Life Insurance to Boot .

Now , coming to the larger point , extrapolate the situation to our friends at the Tasmac outlets . The figures will be even more staggering  . More and more drinkers are being added everyday and their starting age is getting lower each passing year . 

No wonder the authorities look the other way when questions are raised to close this money spinning bandwagon . More money to the Government and their elite who are the manufacturers of this heavenly saviour .

While some Idiots are in their Heavenly daze , with the booze in their hand and ladies of their house struggling to make the ends meet.  A person clad in spotlessly clean starched Veshti and Shirt is happily laughing his way  to the bank to collect his daily fortune .

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
