Something Good about Bangalore - 484

     SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT                          BANGALORE

The traffic related snarls on the roads of BANGALORE are always a point of discussion among the natives of the place or its hordes of visitors who throng this place for Work , Business or Pleasure  .

My recent visit to this place brought out a striking difference to the scene on the roads of this Metropolis as compared to the ones that we have in our cities in Tamilnadu  .

Traffic police in general and especially those in Bangalore are always at the butt end of a joke and their zest to make a fast BUC0K and fleece the public .

Their role however needs to be commended for  ensuring that the Wearing of Helmets both by the rider  or the one accompanying him at the back have their Helmets on their head  at all times  . Except on very rare occasions I hardly saw anyone flouting this rule . The same is the case of the Seatbelts enforcement in 4 wheeler Drivers  .

It is almost the reverse in Tamilnadu . Wearing of Helmets by the 2 wheeler riders or the seatbelts of the 4 wheelers  seem to be an exception to the general rule . The case of the pillion rider at the back does not even arise . School going children , no more than 10 or 12 year old riding a bike with the stupid but proud parent at the back grinning from ear to ear on their way to school seem to be a common but sorry  feature .

And ,  Oh yes , there were no KANNEER ANJALI OR POO PUNITHA NEERAATTU VIZHA flexboards , banners or posters at any conceivable place which includes even the Nameboards of the very streets on which we dwell .

Need for us to learn something good from our neighbors  .
