Meeting a Friend after almost 50   

                       Years    

Ours was the Fabulous FOURSOME Group at Sasmira during our College Days . Mukulesh , Parashu , Verma  ( Varijendra ) and myself though in two different streams of Textile Technology were always together for the most part during and after the College Hours . The reason I guess was our somewhat self proclaimed pcomfort with the English Language. This , in a college where Gujarathi was the most spoken language among the students set us apart as a group comfortable with English . 

The 3 years in SASMIRA were by far the best years spent thus far and had far reaching influence on our career and life which was to come later . 

Mukulesh found his  life partner here and Parashu found one because of his Textile Association . 

As was only natural , we all went our separate ways in search of a career and stayed distanced because of our location . 

Mukulesh , Parashu and myself were in touch with each other on the Social Media Platforms and also had occasions to physically meet each other during my visits to Mumbai and their combined visit down South to Rameswaram and my place Ambasamudram . 

It was during their visit to Ambasamudram that hit upon the idea to retrace our contact with Verma . A couple of hours of the net search and phone calls which could put a Paul Drake, Madam Poirot  or any other famed detective to shame , contact with Vermaji was established. Covid meantime played the spoilsport and a physical meet was out of the question . 

Dec 24 th made this possible as Vermaji and myself were both in Chennai . Verma to meet his Daughter in Chennai and me to attend a personal function . 

The joy that this brought about can’t be expressed in words . Many Shared memories were relived . We missed Mukulesh and Parashu which would have made this meet even more memorable . 

The following Dialogue in a play in which I acted and  which was directed by Vermaji has stood the test of time is still as fresh in my mind as the day when we presented the same at Century Bazaar Ravindra Natya Mandir .

गंगाराम तुम नहीं जानोगी कि तुम्हारा ये दोस्त , लेकिन तुम नहीं जानोगे ,  तुम तो मुझे ड्राइवर बनाते हो , लेकिन मेरा ज़माना आएगा , मै बहुत बड़ा एक्टर , डायरेक्टर बनूंगा , लोगों के जुबां पे मेरा नाम होगा , मै ऐक लम्बे गाड़ी से यूं उतरूंगा जैसे देव आनंद -----'xxxx-----
