  BLUE MOON 30 TH AUG 2023 

The much awaited 2nd  Leg of the Blue Moon scheduled for 30 th August has been captured in the Photograph. As detailed earlier there is nothing Blue about the Moon . 

The difference , being closest to the Earth in its journey , it appears a shade LARGER and very BRIGHT as compared to other full Moons that we normally see. 

The small speck of JUPITER appears just above the Moon almost at a 45 Degree Angle . Please ZOOM the photograph  to notice the same .

The first one was at Regina and this one is at Toronto in Canada .

  Once in a Blue Moon 

A very rare occurrence or an event that does not occur very frequently is often referred to as 

           ONCE IN A BLUE MOON 



August 1 was of particular importance to both the Astronomers , Scientists and the Layman on the Street like me . The much  touted and in the News  BLUE MOON was to emerge on that Night . 

Make no Mistake about it .  The Moon was anything but Blue  on that Night . It was its usual RED at the Start and then going on to become its shiny bright self a bit Later in the night . The significance was the SIZE , it was definitely much  larger than its usual Size even to the naked eye .

Its Apogee Distance is 406634 Km

Its Perigee Distance is 357181 Km

Simply put , it is roughly about 50000 Kms Closer to the Earth and hence it appears larger to the naked Eye .

Two significant changes from the  normal Full Moon , This was the closest to Earth that  it was ever  going to get for some time .  Secondly there were going to be TWO FULL-MOONS within  the same Month of August 2023 . The Next full in August will be on the 30 th . 

The Next BLUE MOON  that this is going to happen will be in August 2032 . A full 9 years after the Current happenings . 

Be sure to watch the FULL  MOON on the 30 th of Aug 2023 . 

This  “ ONCE IN A BLUE MOON “ will occur next time only in 2032 . Not sure if I will be there then to witness the same  !!!!

 AYODHYA YAATRA  DAY - ONE     Sundar Holiday Travels  As instructed  by Mr Ashok of Sunder Travels , we were dot on time at 9.00 thanks primarily due to smooth flow of traffic from Vadapalani to the Chennai  Airport .  Other Yatrees also slowly trooped in . Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning .
