Visit to Edmonton - 651


 VISIT TO EDMONTON - CANADA 

 A combination of factors made our visit to Edmonton in Alberta province possible . 

The long awaited arrival of the NEW  HONDA ODYSSEY VERSION 2024 MODEL CAR 





AARNA , ARYA'S long pending  extended Tour to a place of repute as promised by their parents Kamesh and Anoo .

Three days of Holiday on Oct 7,8 ,  9 being an extended long Weekend because of the Thanksgiving Day in between. 

A chance to meet many of Kamesh and Anoo's close friends from their Philippine Days who are now all settled at Edmonton.

Edmonton is the 5 th largest city in Canada by virtue of both its size and population . It is the Capital of the Alberta Province. The WEST EDMONTON  MALL here is reputed to be one of the biggest in North America with more than 800 shopping outlets where the products of all the leading Brands are on sale .

The highlight of the Mall is also the huge WATERPARK inside . In terms of the size , it could easily beat a full sized Cricket Ground with many Slides and Artificial waves and other attractions . The fully enclosed Glass walled enclave  is an absolute delight to anyone visiting the place . AARNA AND ARYA HAD THE BEST OF 4 HOURS ALL TO THEMSELVES HERE AND ENJOYED ALL THE SPLASH , SLIDES AND WAVES .

This also gave us a  chance to meet Prakash Swaminathan and Jayashree who were instrumental in making Canada , the place of stay for Kamesh and Anoo and a pillar of support when they landed in Canada right from the year 2011 . 

For those in the Coats Antique group Prakash Swaminathan is the Son of Mr Swaminathan , onetime Spinning Manager of Madura Coats Ltd at Ambas .

The visit to the Ganapathy Temple was even more special as this was a repeat visit for Anoo and Kamesh who had first visited this Temple in 2011 when they first landed at Edmonton in Canada .

There are any number of Good South Indian Hotels in Edmonton. Hotel Suvera was the place where we met Kamesh and Anoo's  PHILIPPINE friends . I had also met them during my three visits to the Philippines. Prakash and Jayashree  hosted us at Hotel Savoy . Many pleasant memories were exchanged. 

The lunch before our departure from Edmonton at the Annam Cuisine was an absolute stealer . Dosa , Ven Pongal was an absolute delight . The kids enjoyed the Noodles and Cone Dosa to the hilt . The owner Sathya , originally from Trichy was everything that you can expect from a service provider , kind , courteous and willing to go an extra Mile to make us happy with the services provided .

The 800 kms , 10 hour  trip each  way could not have been possible but for the comfort of the Brand New Honda ODYSSEY vehicle . Kamesh I am sure must have felt the strain a bit as he was the sole person driving the vehicle .


All in all , a trip enjoyed to the hilt by all of us .

 VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple . We decided to embark  on  a visit to this place and Mami was spot on to point out that there was a direct Train from Ambasamudram to Vaikom Road by the 16792 Palaruvi Express starting from ASD at 11.57 PM and reaching Vaikom Road Station at 7.30 Am the next morning . Nothing could be better ,  We made the Reservations for both the Up  and Down Jorneys on the 11 th and 13 th June with our  return slated from Ernakulam Town as we planned to visit the Chottanikara Bhaghavati Amman Temple on the 13 th mornin

On Northern Most Point Thus Far - 604

Setting Foot on the  Northern Most  Point Thus Far Travelled by Me . Coming as this does within 10 days of my arrival in Canada, our trip to Waskesiu was unique in more ways than one . Waskesiu which is about 450 Kms from Regina and is at the Northern Most point in the Saskatchewan Province of Canada .  As with most other regions , this place is unique for ,  Literally 100 s of waterfronts and beaches . Shrouded by tall trees all around where the Suns Rays rarely reach the ground level directly and unhindered . Home to Bear , Deer and Elf . We were lucky to spot all the three during our trip on Road . There are Beautiful Resorts all around where visitors from all  across Canada , spend Time and Money in huge numbers to savor the Natural Beauty which is in abundance here . During Summer Months the Weather in these areas are on the lines of Kodaikanal or Uthagamandalam at its coldest .
