Tremors At Ambas - 713

    TREMORS IN AREAS IN AND 

     AROUND AMBASAMUDRAM 

    22 nd SEPTEMBER ,  11.50 AM

Sunday the 22 nd of September was just like any other day .  Being close to  Noon and Lunch about to be had , with nothing better to do , self and Mami were watching the TV . The previous Evening's Visit to the Five Vishnu Sthalam and Garuda Sevai on the auspicious occasion of The Purattasi Sani Kizhamai had a part to play in our drowsiness. 

At 11.50 am , there was a sudden jolt and a momentary shake which was followed by a loud noise as if a large quantity of gravel is being unloaded from a Truck . The whole episode lasted for just a couple of Seconds .

A couple of thoughts went through the mind . 

Was it due to the Construction activity going on in front of our House ? 

Was it a Tremor and a forerunner of something worse to come ? Should we just run out of the house ? Should we grab our Purse , Mobile and our Passports and Run out to a safer and open space ? 

Soon , the mobile was abuzz with the news of the tremor in and around Ambasamudram and  many other places in the Tirunelveli and Tenkasi Districts. 

Fortunately , no damage of any sort to life or property was reported. 

Very soon , the Vernacular TV Channels flashed the same as A BREAKING NEWS and we  had calls from Friends and Relatives enquiring about our status and wellbeing.

We were both watching the TV , when we felt the jolt and shake for a few seconds . We initially attributed the same to the Construction work in front of us.  There are now news of the shake at many places around here .

On a slightly different note the Josier with whom I was having a chat just  the previous evening at Chakrathalwar Kovil at Karisoozhndamandalam to pass the time came to mind .

He forewarned about very heavy Rains and Floods this Season and also of Tremors coming our way. I must add that I have very scant belief in Josium , but an event of this sort taking place within hours of his prediction has now set me thinking !!!'

    Oops. Thank God you are all safe. I never knew that Ambai is is seismic range. Take care mamaji. Everything seems to go for a toss with Global warming. The mountains around and the water bodies may all be a reason. Take care.

    Thank God. So far nowhere there were seismic pressure in your area. Recently I read an article that the earth plate has slightly moved , the reason for.the climate change. Anyhow we have to take. care

Ayodhya Yaatraa Day -3 - 704

                  Ayodhya Yatra - Day 3  The highlight of the day was to be the Holy Dip in the Triveni Sangamam .  For the uninformed Triveni Sangamam is the place where the Three Rivers Ganga Yamuna and Saraswathy converge into one . It is the place where Veni Daanam is given after a bath in the River .  The 20 Minute Boat Ride takes you to this place of convergence of these three rivers . The Boatmen help you to take a dip in the water . Old set of clothes are discarded symbolising the discarding of everything bad and the start of a new fresh life .  Ganga is slightly murky while the Yamuna is clearer , Saraswathy is Antervaahini and it converges under water .  The Dhambadhi Pooja after the Dip in the Holy Waters  was performed with all the diligence that the occasion demands .  VAIKOM VISIT - IN GODS OWN                     COUNTRY  Kerala has always been my favourite place of visit over the years . Its cleanliness , its greenery,  waterways , not to forget its spirituality and beautiful people in more ways than one  have always held  a special attraction for  me . We , that is me and my Better Half have visited Kerala before  and visited many of  its  Temples and Tourist Attractions.  One place missing in this list has been the Viakom  Sri Mahadeva Temple .
