Surprise Meetings Over the Weekend- 729

          Surprise Meetings  over the Weekend

Nothing gives more pleasure than meeting someone after a very long period of time . Visiting places with this person ,  the spots which were a part of you over a long period of time is no less than a bonus .

Ganesh , my Son in Law Kamlesh’s Brother and Son of Rajagopalan Sir , who was also an Executive in Madura Coats visited us over the Weekend . I have known him from his Colony days as kid doing his Schooling at St Mary Higher Secondary School , VK Puram .

We took this opportunity to visit the School , Loganayaki Sweet Shop at Santhana Mariamman Kovil Bus Stop which was once famous for its Pakoda. The trip also included a Prokshanam at Papanasam Temple River Bed .

We decided to take the Aladiyur Route for our return to Agasthiarpatty . Irumbu  Palam or Iron Bridge over which we would have travelled countless number of times with the Tambarabarani River snaking her way below brought back nostalgic memories of the past .

The next stop was at the BAI KADAI IN FRONT OF THE MILL GATE .

Relationship with Bai which started some Half a Century back with a visit to his shop after every shift almost mandatory, during my long years of Service brought back very fond memories . He was delighted to see us .

We passed the Colony Gate and proceeded back Home via Kash Keeper Thoppu . Passing the Colony brought back mixed emotions . The Heavenly Experience of Having Spent the Best Years of my Life within its confines on one side and the sad state of the colony which was visible even to a Blind Man from the outside . The dilapidated buildings begging for a makeover could not be missed .

We in fact felt fortunate that there were restrictions in place for Visits to the Colony by its Ex Residents.  Ganesh I am sure had nothing to miss thanks to the Restrictions and went back to Tirunelveli and then to the US a much Happier Person .

The next Day , I had to attend a function at Ravanasamudaram and was at the Ambas  Railway Station to Catch a Train and was seated next to two persons who were in an animated discussion regarding Trivandrum and Ernakulam .

Mami who joined me a Couple of Minutes later because of her Visit to the Station Vinayaka Temple while I was at the Ticketing Counter recognised Vedha in a Flash . For the uninformed , Vedha is the Son of  Shri Srinivasa Raghavan of Weaving Mill , Preparatory Section , We knew Vedha from his childhood days . Many pleasant memories were exchanged and contacts shared . It was great to know that Shri Srinivasa Raghavan Sir was doing fine as were Raghu , Sumathy and Viji , his Siblings .

Truly A Remarkable Weekend with a past revisited .
